About half of a west-side power outage was restored after about an hour earlier this morning, and Rochester Gas and Electric says the other half should be back up and running any minute as this is written.

RG&E spokesman Dan Hucko says a motor vehicle accident on Manitou Road took out a 115 Kilovolt power line at about 5 a.m. Saturday. That killed power to more than 31,000 people, completely cutting off Hilton and Spencerport. Greece, Gates, Clarkson, Parma, Ogden and Hamlin were also affected to greater or lesser degrees.

Hucko says four or five substations lost power.

Crews were able to switch power from other parts of the grid to the affected areas. They're working on the damaged high tension line.

I slept through any power outage that happened...

During the week im up at 5:30am...but sat I get to sleep in till
7:45...and sundays..you gotta drag me outa the bed..and even
Then ill try to get a nap in...I love sleep..I used to be able to sleep
With my eyes wide open..somthing I learned after 1, 5 day...

I'd never run a PC or a big flat-screen HDTV off any generator unless your positive it's generating a clean stable current.
They are not sump pumps or fridges and it's very easy to fry those type electrical devices...ijs

Love being able to sleep with eyes open, doesn't happen too often, bunic use day dreaming and being like, wow that felt good.
Agree about generator, most you buy at lowes/HD are pretty good and Id be confident running everything in house on one

Its cleaner power than I get from RG&E

Very true, Celso.

That's why I use power conditioners on all my live sound reinforcement gear required for my music.

OSD might be fine, but I wouldn't leave current to chance.
