Authentic voodoo doll? Don't know if that unicorn exists. But if you want to go where the true believers of voodoo/hoodoo/santeria shop, check out the F&F botanica on Broad street. The owner/proprietor is very approachable and will sell you something authentic.

If you're interested in a low key weekday afternoon festival featuring a bunch of bands you've probably never heard of, check out Chaz Fest. It's usually the Wed. between JazzFest weekends. It's practically across the street from the Saturn Bar, sort of.

It's run by slacker/doper/musician/artists, so their website for this year isn't up yet. Check back later.

A few years ago, along with a couple of dozen other people in the crowd, I saw Hurray for the Riff Raff there. Now Hurray for the Riff Raff is touring the world.

Is that back on? Didn't they suspend Chaz Fest last year? I understand Alex McMurray coordinates it with his wife and he's been burned out on the logistics of the project for years. He's kept soldiering on, but I thought he took a break.

Their facebook page sez it's back on this year, Wed. Apr. 29. But that may be as far as they've gotten with their planning.

We have a great spoken word community and Indy theaters. There's a few comedy shows around the quarters, Usually at local bars. And comedy drag shows too. Shadow box theater is a cool spot. And there's model/art shows with live modeling(they get painted) poetry, we have silent discos. I haven been in awhile but usually at house of blues and howling wolf. So fun to take off your earphone and hear everyone singing off key.

Lots of things to do in NOLA.. People think NOLA is just Bourbon st., but we have lots of places for good music, and entertainment.

Frenchman st. is a good jumping off place. Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club is also a nice place on 1931 St. Claude ave. NOLA La.

I hope you enjoy yourself while visiting our fine city.
