I saw it last night and don't want to over and psychoanalyze it but I'm still kinda iffy on it. The one thing I did learn was that I have a lot of personality traits like Christian Grey that I do need to work on. From a personality perspective I thought I was watching a white version of myself. Lol
Seriously though apparently the movie didn't do the book justice. I thought I was watching a cross between the HBO series Real Sex and a movie from the Lifetime Movie Network (LMN). It was decent but I didn't get the Hollywood production pop I was expecting based on the book raves. For this script I think the producers wanted to go away from "main stream" of the main stream actors and go with famous yet lesser known types so as to the give the movie it's own identity in a sense. It could have also been budget constraints as going with lesser known actors means they won't demand higher salaries with each subsequent movie release. There were 3 books so this movie will likely be the first of three especially considering how the movie ended.
The main characters (Christian and Anatasia) were decent but not very strong actors. I think for the male role either Ryan Gosling or Alex Pettyfer would have given way stronger performances over Jamie Dornan. I was ok with the the lead female role Anatasia played by Dakota Johnson. Even though she was very nice to look at on screen I can't say that she gave a very strong performance even though it was better than Christian's. According to the book Anatasia was emotional and sexy at all the right moments but I just wanted to see more. The Anastasia type is someone I could see myself dating in the real world and I thought for this movie she fit the mold of the book better than Jamie Dornan did for CG.
There were ample sex scenes but they didn't really match the intensity of the book. For example not once did Christian make Anatasia cum. They had sex, did submissive / dominant scenes where he spanked her little ass while she showed her tits and some bush but there was no major orgasmic moments. At one point during the sex scenes it started to get frustrating because he kept tying her up in Dominant style but it started to get boring I wanted to see her cum with that pretty face of hers. lol
The other thing you didn't get from the movie that you got from the book were the multiple soliloquies by each actor so that kinda took away from it. There's also something else I noticed that may be getting a bit into psychoanalysis. In the book Christian Grey had a black personal trainer who was introduced several times throughout the book. At one point I was told it was suggested that this trainer (Black guy) would eventually work with Anastasia as CG saw fit.
I think the screen writers left this black character (from the book) out of the movie because he was likely more fit and better looking than Christian Grey since he was his personal trainer. Imagine introducing a black character that most women go crazy over adding the complexity of interracial stigma (overtures) to the American movie audience. It would have completely undermined Christian Grey in my opinion and most of the audience would have been thinking she must want to fuck the black guy. lol
In summary, I thought it was an ok movie maybe right at 5 / 10. Since I watched the first one I would probably go back to watch the sequels.

Thanks for the review Zanz.
I haven't read the books or seen the movie yet. I too was thinking about going with someone and making it part of a special. At first I thought Jamie Dornan was wrong for this role, but after watching several of his films and also the entire series of The Fall, I think he's pretty hot and would not mind being tied up by him at all.

One things for sure and that is he had one hell of a sex torture room fit for a billionaire.
I won't knock him I just think if you read about the intensity of CG in the book vs the performance on screen, Ryan Gosling probably would have been a much better fit given his ability to play those type of serious roles.

I'm yet to see it, but 2 steamy actors (although I love Ryan Gosling) that could make me wet from watching are Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulrony. Steamy sexy yummmm. Hope I'm not let down when I finally get to see it!!!
Although after Zani's assessment I'm not running to see it now, ughh...
Any females see it yet???

Hey "john", You thought you were watching a White version of yourself? Really? Pardon my ignorance since I have not read this fine book that is probably an autobiography (or is it a biography written by your coat-tail riding Mini-Me aka "the player"?) and I probably will not be seeing this future Oscar Winning Best Picture Winner any time soon, (I know I won't) but I have some questions (this will be where my ignorance kicks in) and comments.
Comment: People that don't know you, like me, could easily interpret your comments as you being one arrogant Prick, I mean "trick", which you are, by definition.
Question(s): Assuming the book or movie is not based on a fucktard that hangs around on a hooker board, what or how exactly does it remind you of a White You? Is it the way you fly on your private jet to go see Miss Kitty? Or the way you Croon your way into the ladies' heart? Does Christian Gay wants to change the law to legalize prostitution? One more thing, did the movie include the part where he leaves on a Friday and he tells his bitch not to move until he comes back? He comes back on Monday and the bitch is still waiting? Just curious.

I asked who saw it and opinions about it. Zani is the only one who commented who actually saw it, and I appreciated the feedback. I'm interested in even more feedback from others who have seen it, I'm a passionate woman. I wanna know! So with all respect MW, he was responding exactly to what I asked. Let's please keep this civil and sexy!

Here's one exchange from the movie I hope helps you out:
Anastasia: "Are you going to make love to me now Mr. Grey?"
Christian Grey: " No"
Anastasia: " Why...[gets cut off]"
Christian Grey: " I don't make love, I fuck and I fuck hard."

Aussie lady movie reviewer thought it was the worst movie she ever saw...more importantly, her poor husband paid the price:
