The guideline regarding outing offers many examples, none of which concern connecting an anonymous handle with another anonymous handle - guested or not.

And the guideline advising people of the option to have a handle guested mentions nothing about outing if they choose to rejoin the board under a different handle should someone put 2 and 2 together.

So while it might be implied, even that requires a pretty generous reading of the guidelines, given that it requires that no personal real world information ever gets mentioned. So there's nothing "explicit" about it.

And now, as we've come to find out, it apparently doesn't even require the person making the "outing" accusation to be right. If someone accuses me of being (insert guested handle here), they can be pointed. I'm sure you'll argue that's explicit in the guidelines also. I could make two or three more points, but it'd all fall on deaf ears, i'm sure.

Suffice it to say, the time you've both spent arguing about this would have been better served by simply going in and updating the guidelines to make it all more explicit and clear. That's what a quality mod would have done. But then, being a quality mod isn't really your agenda here, is it?

I understand how the enforcement policy in Upset NY can lead you to the place you find yourself. I am not the answer to your frustration in that regard. I can only share with you the policy and how it is supposed to be enforced. The inability or unwillingness of a local modtard to walk himself through the correct process to address guideline violations is an issue that every local community faces. That is why it is important that you be able to discuss your frustrations in open forum as is happening here.

You are adamant in your position. As long as your local modtards are as weak as they are in enforcing the necessary and aggressive in enforcing the ridiculous, you are safe. Somewhere in the past an attitude of placing most of you on ignore seems to have become pervasive among your modtards. That attitude has passed from the old to the new. Lest you thinck that gman has subscribed to that, I can tell he has not. But, he does not live here. he does not maintain a visible presence on your local boards (as your local modtards should). He is a modtard in one of the busiest forums on this site. Upset NY is added duties to him and he still does more than your local modtards. If you don't RTM it, he will not see it.

You have a new local modtard. We will see if he is able to set aside his personal path here and step up on the path set forth by the Owners of this site. If he does, you are going to have to rethinck some of your positions.
