I'm Offering You
A Tequila Special!

Silver Patron Tequila 750ml or larger
$40 Off All HH or HR Sessions!

$45.00 At Spec's Guys!

Do I read this clearly? If I give a gift that costs $45, I get a $40 discount. Anyone who can get customers to respond to that offer IS a marketing genius.

If ya stop and consider all the guys that typically bring their whores a gift, it probably represents saving them a few bucks....

Screw up and bring her Cuervo by mistake though and expect you DL on blast....

Just as should happen. No one should have to drink Cuervo. Life is too short for bad tequila.

Patron, mostly owned by Austin's own John Paul DeJoria of haircut fame, owes much more to DeJoria's marketing genius than any particular technique. It's OK, just OK according to tasters, so its fame far exceeds its actual quality. In the silver category that's being solicited (heh), triple-distilled Cuervo Platino (platinum) is the world's best IMO.

Of course Cuervo makes the world's worst, well-known tequila: Gold, which is actually a mixto with 49% cheap vodka in with the 51% agave, and food coloring. It even smells bad.

But Cuervo also makes the world's best production* tequila: Reserva de la Familia, 100% blue agave, comes in a different, hand-numbered bottle every year. Reserva was the first ultra-aged anejo, resting in oak barrels for three years. Reserva is ~$140.00/bottle, and some of the yearly editions are collector's items because of the artist-signed wooden box, different every year. Smells like brandy, but with more flavors: cinnamon, citrus, vanilla, more.

*Production tequila can be topped by ultra-high-end, custom and one-off vintages, but you won't see those in ordinary liquor stores, if at all.

And THAT's how you hijack a thread and spawn a new topic, ladies and gentlemen.

p.s. And I see that while I was typing, Rockerdude beat me to the post finish line.

Yep, Gran Patron is a grand one, alright, as is Don Julio's 1942. I'll still put Reserva de la Familia at the top of that fine list. Let's face it, in that neighborhood, you can do no wrong.
