Excellent Live Music at Brewster Street & Dr. Rockits
I love Music-Rock, Jazz, Blues, Mowtown R&B, Country, Tejano/Norteno/Conjunto. I really enjoy seeing Live Music. I went to Brewster Street Icehoue Wednesday night Novemer 26 and saw Corpus Christi Native/Texas Country Musician Roger Creager. I have seen Roger Creager numerous times and he always puts on an excellent show. Roger Creager's Dad Bill is 80. Everytime Roger Creager plays Corpus, Roger and his Dad sing Rancho Grande together in Spanish. I always enjoy watching Roger Creager & his Dad singing together, his Dad really has a good time singing with his son on stage. There are pictures on Roger Creager's Facebook page of his Dad crowd surfing at their Friday night November 28 gig. Wild Bill is on his back and the crowd is passing him around.
Went to Dr. Rockits late night Wednesday and saw local Blues Band Reno & The Groovegetters. Three piece band-guitar/bass/drums. This was my first time to see Reno & The Groovegetters, they are good. I will definitely see them again when they play a gig at Dr. Rockits. They play there on a regular basis.
Saturday night November 29 I went to Dr. Rockits and saw Houston Blues Band Rick Lee & The Night Owls. Three piece band-guitar/bass/drums. This was my first time to see Rick Lee & The Night Owls. They are Bad to the Bone Badass/Topnotch Older Professional Musicians. Rick Lee is a Guitar Slinger who sometimes plays his Fender Stratocaster with his tongue & uses a bar stool as a slide to play slide guitar. This was humorous, Rick Lee put his guitar in a young good looking chica's lap and started playing guitar with his tongue. The chica was ok with this, laughed and put her hand on the back of his head. Rick Lee & The Night Owls play at Dr. Rockits on a regular basis. They play again at Dr. Rockits on December 27. I will definitely go see them again.

Reno is bad ass, probably the best active guitarist in Corpus right now. He was Merle Haggard's guitar player for a while. He is also a former ranked heavyweight Muay Thai kickboxer. You can listen to his music at https://soundcloud.com/reno-perez

Antone Perez was playing drums with Reno, he also plays drums with Bushbullit. I have met Antone several times at Tracy Herron's Barbershop while waiting to get a haircut. Tracy's Barbershop is located at Airline & Williams in the same strip center that Bottoms Up is located. Tracy Herron is a cool old dude/character, he's 72. Tracy is a musician, plays harmonica & sings, he has several CDs-Blues/Rockabilly that he recorded at his Nephew Dennis Gilley's Recording Studio on Kostoryz. Tracy is Jerry Lee Lewis Cousin. Tracy's Barbershop is a combo Barbershop/Music Store & very cool in my opinion. He has all kinds of Music Memoribilia on the walls & hanging from the ceiling-lots of Stevie Ray Vaughan stuff, old black & white photos of him, Jerry Lee Lewis & other relatives in Louisiana. Back in 2012 Texas Country Reporter filmed a segment in Tracy's Barbershop about Tracy The Singing Barber.
Reno & band played Texas Tornados song Laredo Rose which is one of my favorite songs by the Texas Tornados about NLBT. Reno commented after the song drive about 20 blocks in Nuevo Laredo & take a right. Just don't go to Dallas Cowboys.

That's cool about the 20 blocks. Antone usually plays with him. He played with my old band one night when we needed a fill in drummer. He too is a pro, I know his bass player very well also. You can't go wrong with Reno.

I went to House of Rock Wednesday night and saw 3 bands. The opening band was mediocre, they played Pop Punk Music, I don't remember their name.
Local C.C. Rockabilly Band Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang played next. As usual they put on an excellent show. They have a new Bass player, a young Mexicano Dude whom I have seen playing in another local Texas Country Band. I don't remember who he previously played with. This was his 3rd gig. He's good, I love the sound of a big stand up bass.
Rockabilly/Psychobilly Band Three Bad Jacks out of Los Angles California was the headliner. This was my first time to see them, they are excellent. The lead guitar player/lead vocalist Elvis Suissa is a Guitar Slinger/excellent guitar player. The drummer was excellent, older dude who has played with Jerry Lee Lewis & Wanda Jackson. They had a replacement bass player for their Texas Tour. This was his 3rd gig, the dude is a badass standup bass player. Elvis Suissa and Matt Hole are friends, they first met 20 years ago when Matt Hole & The Hot Rod Gang were out in Los Angeles California playing a gig.
Elvis made the comment that they play more gigs in Texas than they do in California. They are having transmission problems with their van, it will not shift into 2nd gear. They played in Laredo Tuesday night, Corpus Wednesday night, they have a gig in Midland tonight & Lubbock Friday night. I wish them luck that they don't break down on the highway driving to Midland. I lived in Midland & Lubbock during my Oilfield Slut Days. It's a long drive out to West Texas from Corpus Christi.

I went to Brewster Street Icehouse Saturday night Dec. 6 and saw Rios Of Mercedes Boot Company Music Endorser Charlie Robison & Olathe Boot Company Music Endorser Jason Boland & The Stragglers. Charlie Robison opened and put on an excellent show. Okie Jason Boland & The Stragglers also put on an excellent show. There was a very large crowd but it was not sold out. Both Musicians have their own large Tour Bus, wonder what kind of MPG they get on the highway. Went to the Palace for the first time in several months after the show. Got there around 1:00 AM and left at 2:00 AM. American Titty Bars are just too tame/lame for me-too many Rules. I like Mexico Titty Bars where there are little to no Rules & you have Full Service-Titty Bar/Brothel.

Man I miss playing in the band's. I'm looking to get me another drum kit and start up again. I play drums and sing, have professionally. It's about time for another round. I just moved to Rockport from SanAntonio and I didn't realize the wonderful musicians that were around here. It's great. Sat there was a good 80s rock band playing at the Christmas festival, more power to them singing all that journey and, acdc stuff. It's way to high for me. They were good though.

Smokee I live out on the Lake but have enough equipment to put a full band onstage just need musicians. Also have a kick ass 20 x 20 jam room with everything set up. I play bass on a professional level or at least professional enough to play with pretty much any venue around here. McKlipsch has heard one of my old bands. Find a singer and guitarist and we are ready to jam.

I went to Brewster Street Thursday night Dec. 11 and saw 2 Texas Country Bands. Mike Ryan Band opened up, they were good. JB & The Moonshine Band was the headliner, they were good. It was my first time to see these bands. There was a small crowd at Brewster Street.

I went and saw local Corpus Christi singer Clarissa Serna Friday night Dec. 12 at South Texas Icehouse. Clarissa Serna was a contestant on The Voice a couple of Seasons ago. Clarrisa Serna had a good powerful voice and is very easy on the eyes, she's good looking. She sings pop & rock music. Returned Two Sender is the Band she performs with, they are good. This was my 4th time to see Clarissa Serna & Returned Two Sender. There was a medium size crowd at South Texas Icehouse.
