Well, sir, I certainly hope so. For your sake. And the ladies.

Congrats on 2 years! I remember you turning down a drink over a year ago when I offered (not knowing your situation of course). Quitting any addiction - alcohol, drugs, gambling, pussy - is extremely difficult.

Annika, that pic is so true.

My sobriety date was back in '98 and had I continued that life, I would never have found, and experienced, this wonderful hobby.

Coffee and DATY is (almost) all I need now.

EFN - hopefully you'll get to where "one day at a time" doesn't apply.
I keep alcoholic beverages in my fridge for visitors. Never enters my mind to have a drink.
I DFK with Providers, right after they have a drink - no problem - tasting it doesn't even cause an urge.
'Course that may be because my craving is to go on oral explorations, everywhere... ;-)

There is a difference between "sobriety" and just being a dry drunk..

Part of why I left my last gf was her drinking and resulting crazy chaotic behavior/ drama. I drink very little and don't do drugs....A disproportionate percentage of people around me these days are in recovery... some of these people really should not still be alive but are now doing great and it is amazing to see the transformation... people can and do change! One friend had really wrecked things and now he is so clean and sober and doing so well its just amazing...Also my ATF provider was in recovery

There's a lot of reasons why some people become addicts. IMHO the major factor is always that those people are challenged when it comes to experiencing happiness from ordinary living. The simple fact of being alive is so unpleasant for them that they must..and I mean must...find something to either let them escape, or better yet to give them a huge dose of dopamin or seratonin. Seeking escape from the drudgery of their lives is what begins the habit, and once a habit is formed it's difficult to change.

Some people just don't feel the normal range of pleasures, drives and motivations that humans are normally designed to have, and these people are the ones who find it difficult to stay sober.

My only advise is to find things in life that make you happy...really happy... And that means finding activities that bring you the normal pleasures of life and make you want to get up in the morning and do those things.

Finding a playmate who wants to be with you, in the hobby or outside of the hobby, can be one of those things - as long as that person has a healthy mind and knows how to find happiness from normal living as well.

Default What???

I am not one to deny another, their opinion, but the following, is the most clueless threAD, I've ever read.
The writer has obviously never "been there, done that".
