Doesn't change my opinion at all. How many people REALLY have a need to own an Uzi?

How many people REALLY need to own a hot tub? An SUV? A yacht? A fur coat?

Need I go on?

Should we start banning things that people don't REALLY need?

Where did I use the word "ban"? I asked who had a NEED for an Uzi? To protect yourself at home? In your car? On the street?

I own a hot tub and an SUV and I have owned a boat. None are NEEDED but they usually bring some level of enjoyment into one's life. If owning an Uzi brings some level of enjoyment to your life, by all means get one.

Well there you go, you just answered the question. Shooting an Uzi is fun. I have fired one, so I know

I enjoy firing them, also. Fine weapon. I prefer a Tommy gun for smoothness, though.

Like so many other things you say (or don't say) it is implied by the tone of your comment. That way you can support something without actually saying it and getting called out on it.

Stop trying to read what you want to into my comments. In no way did I imply that I wanted an Uzi banned. As of this time on August 29, 2014, getting an Uzi banned is not on my list of priorities. Some day you'll learn that you can't put TONE into the written word. While I see no need for a law-abiding citizen to own such a weapon for self-protection, if it is legal and turns you on to own one, fine by me. If you or anyone else gets turned on and excited by firing such a weapon, good for you. In an hour or so I'll head out on the road on my bicycle and do 20+ miles at 17+ mph. Now THAT turns me on.

What I find interesting is over the years on several different websites, people have either talked about the weapons they use for self-protection or given other people advice as to what weapon they would purchase for self-protection. Not once has anyone mentioned an Uzi.

+1 .... I found the "trench broom" to be a remarkably smooth firing weapon, and I've fired both the Thompson and the Uzi.

I watched that video several times. He doesn't get that far out in front of the shooter but rather on the side of the shooter. I think the angle of the video as well as the difference in bodily proportions of the instructor and the girl may give an impression that he is in a bad position. Further more why is there a video of this incident anyway. Why would this girls mother post this video. They don't want to show the fatal shot and Iam beginning to question the validity of this whole incident now. Just doesn't make any sense.

Why would you think that the parents would not video the kid shooting a Uzi, and why do you think they would not want to show the kill shot?

Videotaping their daughter shooting an Uzi isn't the point. The point is why would they post this video to the internet knowing the end result is the instructor being accidently shot, and that part is intentionally omitted. Is there a version of this video out there actually showing the instructor being shot?
