Pixar movies.

Talk about the blatant exploitation of a technology.
And the corruption of Americas youth.

They grow up watching all those crap pixar movies
thinking that life is like the Finding Nemo story or something.

And then one day....Bam!, real world reality hits them in the face
like a rancid custard pie.

Hey now! Frozen totally fricken rocked!

(I regularly catch myself singing Olaf's "In Summer" Lol).

And I loved Pixar's Toy Story!! One night way back a friend and I got a little sauced and analyzed it for its metaphorical value in real life: believing you are someone you are not and capable of things you are not only to realize you are a mere mortal (buzz lightyear), being knocked off your podium by someone newer and cooler than you even if all their shit is fake and self-delusioned (woody), people who live in a bubble and don't know any different bc they have never experienced anything different (the little green men and "the claw"); we had a set type for every character but I can't remember now...

Hell, who says you can't learn about life from Finding Nemo ("just keep swimming. Swimming swimming swimming")? Haha don't get me started on the metaphorical genius of Pixar movies! It doesn't have shit on Animaniacs but it tries. Lol

Back on topic, one of the most underrated movies i've seen since Beasts of the Southern Wild is 12 Years a Slave. Wow!!! If you haven't seen it, you are missing an incredibly enlightening and thoughtful piece of film.

Almost famous is a top-10 for me. No question.

Jar Jar Binks RUINED that Star Wars movie. George Lucas brain fart for sure.

I wanted to like 2001 but the book was sooo much better I just couldn't. Hard to blame Kubrick for a good try because so much of the book is thought, not dialog.

The absolute worst popular movie I can remember happened just recently – American Hustle. Acting was fine but OMFG that screenplay was dull dull dull... and loooong! It had such great reviews I kept waiting for it to get better, but it never did.

I also gotta say I hate most Woody Allen movies.

WHAT was the deal with American Hustle...geez if you have to TRY and stay AWAKE watching a film, it's not for you.

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned A Clockwork Orange, Lust.

Love the "Underworld" films! But, I'm a bit of a SciFy nerd.

Cheers,

Best low budget Sci-Fi movie.

"A Boy And His Dog"

It was the inspiration for the Mad Max movies.

Don Johnsons first movie, the ending is classic.

Anything from Adam Sandler

Same Story Line - Dorky guy wins at the end and gets the girl.

Although I do like "50 First Dates"

Top 3 Worst
#1. Freddy Got Fingered.......... Tom Green was never funny
#2. Remake of Arthur......... once again Russel Brand was never funny
#3. Rock of Ages........ Tom Cruise's bad impression of Axel Rose was about the only funny thing in the movie.

Who gives a toss what the thread was suppose to say if people are enjoying a good bit of banter about films? No need to be a prick.

He can't help himself.

So ya the thread did start out with a certain title about overrated movies but then it evolved. Kind of like this thread about a new old pic:
