Question Texting or Calling?

Which one works best for you? And explain why it works best for you. This will help us know which method works best for each other.

I prefer to talk on the phone first if we have never met. Texting and emailing is fine only after we have either talked on the phone or met in person.

I actually prefer to just text or email. I don't like talking on the phone and when I do get phone calls from clients (new or regulars) they always want to spent 10 minutes going over details. It's not even the screening part, it's just straight asking questions that are easily answered in 1. my posts here, 2. my ads, 3. my reviews, 4. just plain common sense.

So if I'm going to be stuck in a long conversation then I prefer to just type it out.

IMO of course

I prefer text. No one can accidentally over hear a text and you can do it anywhere. In a meeting or almost anywhere.

This too. I was on campus and walking to the elevator when a new client called. He was asking me questions that I couldn't answer because there were two people in the elevator with me. I told him to call me back or text...he never did.

Great question!

I've made my position clear, but I definitely don't mind reiterating.

Well before a first date takes place, I do like to chat on the phone...for many reasons.

There are those that will try to debunk or ridicule my process, but it works great for me! When taking pro/con opinions into consideration, it's always helpful to look at which part of the board the naysaying out-of-state posters frequent most and their participation in other campaigns, as well.

Just do what you feel works best for you! "Expertise" in matters of the hobby is definitely not a uniform thing.

I prefer to text because I am usually always around other people and its much more discreet for me. I also prefer texting to workout the details and to get an address to gps it, cant stand when girls try to hive me directions over the phone! "Go to the first light, turn left, go about 3 miles, turn right near this establishment, go 2 stop signs and the 5 house on the left, got that?" Lol its my pet peeve! But after we workout the details via text, we can talk briefly just to confirm, works well for me.

I prefer smoke signals. No really prefer email first to set appointment than once we have the details worked out a short phone call works best.

lol guys try to give me directions over the phone instead of the address for my gps. 90% of the time the spoken directions get me lost and I have to spend another 10-15 trying to figure out where I am.

I initially text and then once contact is first made, ask permission and if the provider is available for a call.

There's nothing wrong with calling as a part of your preferred screening process but don't expect to get much more than you could through the basic checks. Ya sure, you can get a feel for someone and I don't mind speaking to gent who wants to chat a bit first but my point was: why have the guy call you "for screening" after you have already done set up the appt and he is on his way to see you. Wouldn't he have already been screened if the appt was set up.

And sorry but if you don't want feedback (even from us out-of-towners) then don't post. Pretty simple.

I was pretty fair in what I said in your nc/ns thread. No need for some of you to get stuck on it. Chalk it up to experience and move on.

You're taking what I said completely out of context.

Never once did I say I screen people on the phone directly before an appointment.

I said a phone call was the last phase of my screening, well before an appointment was set up.
