Been to Chop house several times and thought it was ok. Liked Western Door and Black & Blue a little better. Russell's even better. But my go to steak house in Buffalo is EB Green. I usually get a porterhouse when available and bone in Rib eye. No one for me has topped EB Greens. Went to Websters in north Tonawanda last month and had their Black and Bleu Rib eye which was fantastic.

Given that the OP said best without specifically saying price, I'm surprised how much Longhorn, Texas Roadhouse and Outback came up. Don't get me wrong, I eat like I shop BP, but I am surprised with price being no issue to see so many connoisseurs of meat mention them. I avoid Outback, they seem to be higher priced than the food justifies, built up on fluff and marketing.

I would agree that as a rule Outback shouldn't be placed among "the best" but I think you can do worse. Although I have had some very enjoyable "wood grilled" steaks there that don't over do the seasoning and have some nice wood smokey flavor. I would say, when going to outback its been more because we were shopping and that win out over perhaps Fridays or something.... and mostly because I felt like a Fosters beer
And truth be told, during the summer they had some kind of "hard" ice tea blend that they claimed proceeds went to Vets or something and holy shit they were good! Drank more than I ate one time they just hit the spot right lol I let the SO drive home
So, while it may not climb to the top of the list when I am in the mood for "great" steak, if I want a couple drinks and a steak and wanna keep my ball cap on and ratty sneakers lol

Even the Road House.... decent steak. Throw peanuts at the kids and have a couple hard teas.... rolls can be damn good too slather enough of that butter on em....
Just depends on the mood and what the days events are.
But yes, I was in this thread searching out the best places to sample steak at that I haven't been to yet.... and got some very good suggestions.... thanks all!

I had the misfortune of being forced into taking some hooker to the Outback in the Fallsview tourist trap section of the Falls. 100 bucks for a crappy lunch, and we weren't even drinking. Everything was over twice as expensive as in an American Outback, not that they are any great bargain. Apart from the blooming onions, nothing there is particularly good. I understand this place is owned by the same jerk off that owns the Hooters up there. Another rip off dump.

I made the mistake of eating there once. I am surprised that Outback would even allow a franchisee to ruin their reputation like that.
In general, I find the Outback restaurants in the States to be acceptable, especially to get something convenient and reasonable in an unfamiliar location.

FWIW was in the mood for some prime rib yesterday and decided to hit Longhorn by Walden Galleria after some shopping because food was pretty good last time there. Pull into Longhorn lot about 5:30 it was packed. Get in and Longhorn was mobbed. Hostess says it will be an hour and half wait! Didn't feel like waiting so left......ijs

So far, Buffalo has the most places - though you'd better call first to be sure they are still open.
Canada has a few places noted. Rochester has only one place noted. What about Syracuse, Utica, Ithaca? Where are there other places aside from the ones all ready mentioned?
Adams Steak House
Black and Blue
Brasa
Buffalo Club
Buffalo Road House
Chop House
Danny's South's
EB Greens
Fiamma's
Friar's Table
Hyde Park (Closed)
Lombardo's
Longhorn Steakhouse
Oliver's
Red Mill Inn
Roycroft Inn
Russell's
Ruth's Chris
Seneca Niagara's Western Door
Strada West
Suzannes
Texas Road House
The Keg
The Red Osier
Toro Tapas Bar
Tourndos

I think it is mainly because the OP is from Buffalo and people here have been responding to his inquiry. I'm sure there are good steak houses in Rochester and Syracuse as well.
In some instances, Buffalo has been a follower rather than a leader on the food front. Wegmans and Black & Blue started in Rochester. Trader Joe's moved into Rochester before coming to Buffalo. Dinosaur BBQ, which originated in Syracuse, is opening in Buffalo on February 12.
