Default 2014 Grammys

Thoughts? Favorite moments? Best/Worst Performances?

I thought the Metallica/One/Piano thing sucked at first but got into it by the end (kind of transalvania-esque). It certainly reminded me how old I am! Lol O-L-D!

Any guesses on who Daft Punk is behind those robot costumes?? My best guess is 2 old French ladies. Hahahah

The 2 surviving members of Chic other than Nile Rodgers. That might as well be Nile Rodgers' band. DP is Chic on steroids.

And, lord almighty, the grammy people still luv them some Nile Rodgers. He could literally put out an album of sounds he makes in the bathroom, and, at a bare minimum, it would get a nomination in some avant garde category. And if they couldn't fit it into an existing category, they'd create a new one for him.

First rule of grammy club: Nile Rodgers gets a bunch of awards.

Seriously, I think it's a milli vanilli type thing. Rodgers is the man behind the curtain, and he prolly rotates members of blue man group in and out of the robot costumes on scale wages.

Second rule of grammy club: Give all the grammys that Nile Rodgers doesn't want to Paul McCartney (to make up for the ones he and the lads should have won all those years ago).

After Paul dies, they'll have to give 'em to Neil Young. And after niles dies, my bet is Herbie Hancock is next in line.

And after ALL those people die, they'll give the extra awards to Keith Richards, 'cause he'll never die.

Herbie Hancock is not given near enough credit for his contributions to the music industry.

Ah, you have aspirations to be a member of the grammy nomination committee, eh? That should get your foot in the door. Also helps if you're willing to toss an extraneous nomination to Herb Alpert every now and then (didn't know he was still alive until tonight).

Oh, and you were wondering who was in the robot costumes? Same guys in this one (except they put all the pieces together for Daft Punk...Nile Rodgers is such a perfectionist):

I'm not following. But I love that song. Are you saying HH didn't really do Rockit? I'm crushed.

NOOOOOOO! That's definitely Herbie's. He's completely original in every way. I just found the use of the mannequins in rockit somewhat reminiscent of the robots in Daft Punk. I also find a similarity between the work of HH and Nile Rodgers. They're definitely contemporaries, and I wouldn't be surprised if they influenced each other (which doesn't make either any less "original" -- everything is derivative of something else at this late date in the evolution of music). Probably collaborated somewhere along the way, too, though they might also be rivals.

Hello, ThatHottEccieNewbieNurse...my favorite was Paul and Ringo. All reports were that they weren't gonna jam together...I didn't believe it for a second. Awesome moment, really cool when the camera got them in the same frame. Gave me goosebumps...

The grammys screwed up once again. You know its a major fuck up when you have maclemore who is a good rapper state he shouldn't have won best rap. I liked the performance of Kendrick Lamar and Imagine dragon but leave it to the grammys to kill that feeling with going to a country performance right after

Hey anything can happen on the grammys. Metallic a and classical piano even. Ya, that didn't sound too great most of the way thru either. Lol

I can not watch them anymore. Too much self indulgence, too much " look at me, look at me ", too much bullshit. I am getting old. I know it : 58. The outfits are recockulous, each trying to outdo the other, showing more and more. For me, a great deal of legitimacy has been taken out and more mutual masturbation inserted. Women complain about sexism, yet put themselves up to it with their displays. Macho males strut around, being Gawd Almighty, and the public fawns all over it. Worse than the Kardashians, for me. And just as not important.

Oh yea, one more thing: Idol Worship. All the news channels, every media outlet pumps this up and covers it like it was important. It is not.

I know when I was younger I was so impressed, envious of the popularity and stardom. I wonder if I am now cynical due to age, or what. Dont know.
