I will continue to make that argument. The founding fathers were progressive motherfuckers for 1780. But the world was a, er, simpler place back then. Women and Blacks, Browns and Khakis weren't considered human. Yet religious zealots on this board continue to act like the fucking constitution was handed down to Mel Brooks by God almighty. It wasn't. it was written by a bunch of guys who argued, fought and tried to create laws that favored their individual constituencies. Just like today. And yes, they shat in holes.

But this thread is about the Sears catalog circa 1920-35 or so, and most people didn't shit in holes then... Except of course the grandparents of some of your mouth breaking pals, who probably still shit in holes. Why are you hijacking this thread?

A "gentlemen" could also buy a sonic supressor (silencer) so that he could practice his shooting in the basement without disturbing his wife and her friends in the parlor upstairs.

Is it a coincidence that the progressive moment started in the 1890s and grew to it's strongest in the 1920s. That is until the 1960s.

Very true. They also owned slaves, only thought property owning white men should vote, and wore wigs!

When the Constitution was written those who wrote it were liberals (not progressives), a classic liberal (not to be confused with the modern liberal). They believed that government should have very little hand in your life. If fact that is why the Bill of Rights was written. Those rights are not some power that the government has over man but restraints on the goverment. The modern conservative is the child of the classic liberal. The modern progressive is the step child of Marx and Engels.

The majority of men did not wear wigs by that point. That was a style on the way out along with knee breeches and very wide lapels. More importantly, large numbers of people recognized Africans and Indians as people. What you don't want to admit that even as people they could still be slaves or a problem to be dealth with in any way possible. People do that today except they don't kill them. They just assassinate their character and try to drive them and their opinions into the mud (examples: right wing nuts, tea baggers, racists, homophobes, etc) and then they (yep, I'm talking about progressives) make laws to try to keep them down.

As for as shitting in holes, my grandmother had an outhouse that was in use in the early 1960s. She also had a chamber pot next to her bed. So your claim that most people had in door plumbing in the 1920s is pure bull shit.

Holy underwear Batman!

JDIdiot has rewritten my post, added some if his own fabrications and then used his own hillbilly grandma's shack in the woods as proof that most people didn't have indoor plumbing in the 20s, which is not exactly what I claimed. I said 1920-35 or so, when the Thompson was an item in the Sears catalog. According to the US Census bureau! by 1940 55% of all America had complete indoor plumbing ... Hot and cold running water, bath or shower and toilets. So you see, JDIdiot, you're taking things out of context and filling the holes with your own weak bullshit.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...&pg=6668,54850

additionally, I had excepted hillbilly grandparents like JDIdiots dear old gramma who, as I predicted, shit in a hole.

JDIdiot, get a fucking grip. Your opinion is your opinion. You almost never even try to corroborate your ravings with citations.

No wonder nobody believes a word you say.

Now go shit in a hole!
