Default BJ risk?

So...I'm relatively new to the hobby. I have had the opportunity to meet a few ladies. However, I'm honestly concerned about the risk of STI.

I'm really only looking for a regular/occasional french lesson. But like many of you, I'm not a fan of a CBJ. Or more correctly, I'm way out of practice with condoms.

My research basically says that there is a risk and that without protection there is no way to totally mitigate that risk. but I can't find how much of a risk it actually is. Are we talking 1 in a 1000 or 1 in 10?

Are there other tips I should know? Or do I just need to get over it and go CBJ?

I know a round of antibiotics will knock out most things that are very common. But I can't do a 10 day antibiotic course and retesting in my situation.

Maybe it's just a risk that people are willing to take? And the married guys just risk a lot? Or am I missing something here?

Doesn't matter to the 1 that gets it in the one in million!

That said, I've never gotten anything in my hobby time of 50+ chances.

Do what makes YOU feel safe.

Default always a risk

It doesn't matter if there is a 1:1,000 or 1:1,000,000 chance, there is always the chance. Its a risk that you yourself have to decide if you want to take. My sister's friend did a layover in Thailand and decided he was going to sleep with a girl, first time and he caught something. He never did anything like that before. I have some friends that have gone to Thailand and went bareback like idiots when they got drunk and came out clean (for now). Like FS said, it only matters to that 1 in the million that gets hit. Like most of the guys on here, I prefer BBBJs over CBJ, but there are times when you look at a woman and say to yourself, I should have put the hat on for the BJ.

Obviously everyone has to judge these things for themselves, but I think some people are more reasonable than others. Take a look at these stats re: HIV, the STD feared the most:

http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/policies/law/risk.html

Keep in mind that's the number of occurrences per 10,000 events with someone who has the HIV virus, *not* 10,000 events randomly selected from the general population or the population of prostitutes. For oral sex the incidence is so low they can't put a number on it, even though they rate other sex acts as a single digit. So 1 in 10,000 with an infected partner would probably be on the high (pessimistic) side.

But what is the probability of encountering an HIV infected provider? The CDC says this about HIV rates among women in the US:

"At some point in their lifetimes, an estimated 1 in 32 black/African American women will be diagnosed with HIV infection, compared with 1 in 106 Hispanic/Latino women and 1 in 526 white women."

HIV infection among prostitutes is thought to be about the same or even less (because they are more cautious) than the general population. Assuming this is true then getting HIV from uncovered oral sex with random (white) prostitutes would be once in 5,260,000 times.

Now some might say one in five million is still too much risk. But people take one in a million risks *all day long.* The chances of being struck by lightening, or in a traffic accident, or falling down stairs, etc.

So this gives some perspective as to whether BBBJ presents a reasonably low level of risk.

Agreed. HIV is so remote, it's really not even a consideration.

I'm really more concerned with chlamidia and having to put my wife on antibiotics. That's just not a conversation I want to have. There just aren't any real numbers on risk. Basically the risk is low but present. Maybe I should just resign myself to CBJ or nothing. Maybe there is a condom that is made for this purpose and maximizes the pleasure?

Thanks for the replies

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection, while possible for you to get a bacterial infection from receiving oral sex, you have a higher probability of getting into a fatal car accident on your way to her place. The risk, in this case is directly proportional to the person RECEIVING fluid exchange.

In Women, the bacterium predominantly enters via the cervix. In men, (and women) who receive unprotected anal sex, there is risk of the anus as the point of entry.

If you are the recipient of BBBJ as your only uncovered sexual activity, (and you have no cuts or open wounds there) your risk of any infection is very slight, slightest in the case of bacterial infections. (Wash up with warm, soapy water. Kills most bacterium. )

(I have extensive experience in researching medical studies, have worked in a hospital and one of my degrees is in Biology).

CDC has a great website and there is a national superthread on STIs.

Bottom line, however, is this: Trust your gut and do not exceed your comfort level.

We all have different comfort levels and different boundaries. There should be no judgement here and certainly no one should ever ask or expect another to cross those boundaries. (OK to ask what another's boundaries are, however, once known, asking another to cross them is disrespectful, IMO).

Hobby safe, sir.

Great converstaion and some very good repsonses, but no one mentioned the risk of being caught by LE, Wife, Providers Boy Friend, Heart Attack during session, Robbed and Assaulted (by provider or Pimp), or Porviders Husband (Yes I know providers that are married and their husband are not aware). So as many have already stated, there is lots of risk in everything we do. There is absolutely nothing we can do that will provide us with 100% risk free environment, we can only manage our risk e.g. condom, or just not par-taking are likley the best options... IMO

Happy hobbying.....

I'm visiting and going to see Serenity tonight to enjoy some of you local talent. Whis me luck!

I would think Herpes would be the main risk of bbbj?
