[I blame The Drummer for this hijack.]

I love roast suckling pig. Some of the best can be found in China (and other Asian countries), and Puerto Rico (and other Caribbean countries).

The Restaurante Botin at historic Plaza Mayor in Madrid, which claims to be the oldest restaurant in the world, serves a great roast suckling pig dish.

Sounds like a good plan FF. All the power to you and the drummer to make it happen.

Nothing better than homemade sauce.

Don't neglect the sausage.

I gotta wonder, is there anyone who can't cook? It seems like making or microwaving every meal would get quite expensive, and I figure even you lawyer and executive types can't afford to eat out EVERY meal, or at least there's no reason to.

(Seriously, with a few exceptions, you get worse food for more money... I can see being on the run, but for every day, what's the point?)

I'm not a great cook myself, I'll be the first to admit--I'm very good at following instructions, and have a cookbook or two I favor, but creative inventions is beyond my mein. But then, who needs to invent when there are so many good ideas out there? I particularly favor the 1951 Betty Crocker--avoids current cookbooks' awful tendency of having a list of ingredients for every. gosh-darn. recipe. that doesn't overlap *at all* with any of the others.

(Though I don't know how much I'll be able to use of it now that I'm gluten-free. But then, even that's a lot easier to work around than I thought--lots of corn and potatoes. AND MEAT. Mmm.)

Guess I'll throw in a recipe while I'm here. Family recipe for a quick, convenient dish when going to parties--no measuring cups, only a pie plate. It's really cooking in only the loosest sense.

1 Can of Refried Beans
1 Packet of Taco Seasoning
1 Pint/Pound of Sour Cream
1 Bag of Shredded Cheese (2 cups)

Mix beans and taco seasoning; spread at bottom of pie plate. Layer first sour cream and then cheese on top. Microwave for six to eight minutes or so. Or bake for twenty-ish? Might pay off to heat the beans and sour cream a while before the cheese; the cheese has a nasty habit of congealing quickly, so it pays to make sure it's on top of hot ingredients.

And enjoy!
