I was never asked to do nor am I doing this as a favor. I just find it odd that from the fraction of information posted she was banned.

If someone posts a fraction of my real information, (TDL, plate number, phone number etc) will you ban them if I prove it you ?

I would like to ask the mods a more serious question about this thread.

Given that the mods have been on this board for a long time, they know the crowd, how people are etc.......When the first 3-5 posts were made STARTING this thread, why did they allow it to continue instead of locking it?

Train is on a track that leads to a bridge that is out and you know it, you DO NOT let the train leave the station!

or has anyone else wondered about this?

Seriously? This isn't about people on ECCIE being able to find him in real life. Most of the people active here have met mamy others in real life.

Posting a first name is dangerous because it allows someone from the outside to come here and verify that handle belongs to someone they know.

1st I did this on my own... why? because it would appear that the collective on here fail to realize that just exposing a 1st name, you have not given anyone anything to go on search wise. No tangible information was revealed other than a 1st name..

And I called NASA, they confirmed it.... the world revolves the SUN, not you..

I found my biological mother because the clerk of the court didn't redact one instance of her FIRST name in my adoption records. That and a few pieces of "non-identifying information" and a quick Google search and I found her. $10 and 10 minutes later, I had her marriage license, phone number, current address, my siblings names and birthdates and DL #.

Of course, I can google and do research better than most, but not better that a private investigator hired by some suspicious wife!

and how just from a first name could you form a link to a handle on here if said handle and information contained in the account db does not HAVE that name listed?

this whole deal is based on a belief that someone from either on here or from outside can read a 1st name, get on here and say "that is THIS handle"

as for finding your mom, did you have her last name before you got her first name? if so then you already had some puzzle pieces.

For the record, posting ANY information that can lead to the identity of someone on here, be it out of spike or the guy is a SERIOUS danger I think should be tempered and funneled through the mods.

meaning, if a lady needs to put up an alert about some shit head, they should give that to the mods in a PM, let them post it so that there is no emotions in the post, they can redact what they need to etc.. with info to PM the OP for more details.

Ok, you've always been nice to me, so I'm going to try this one time because I truly know what I'm talking about here.

Firstly, no...I did not have my bio mom's last name, that would have been easy. I had her first name (a common enough one), where I thought she lived when I was born and her birth year. That's all I used to search. But I found a family tree dating back to the 1800s and I knew immediately everything about her because she had 8 siblings and one had died...that info was in my file. That's all I had and I found her.

So, in the past, this is what has happened...a guy uses ASPD/ECCIE/whatever...a lot...he posts reviews and comments and implicates himself in all sorts of naughty stuff, only using his handle. One day, he is stupid and doesn't lock his laptop or phone or clear the cache and his wife finds the site...she goes through it, page by page and finds a couple of handles that appear to be her husband. She checks her date book and finds one guy who reviews someone on all the times she's out of town working.

AHA! She almost has him, but she isn't 100% sure, so she pulls up all 4000 posts from this handle and low and behold there are posts calling him by his first name. Up until that point, there was plausible deniability...but at that point? Really? "Herbert" is screwed...

In my example, the hobbyist got careless, but I've known women who hear about this and other sites and come looking through everything to see if anyone resembles their husband...it happens. And THAT is why we don't post first names or PII (Personally Identifying Information).

CB posted it...the mods confirmed that they felt confident it was his name. He handled it like an adult (I think to the dismay of many) and she is paying the price of her poor impulse control.

That's how I see it...
