Default Ronald Reagan socialized medicine when he signed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act.

Should we repeal this law? That question is more for my right leaning, Tea gulping friends amongist us.

You think everything that’s gone wrong is because of big government liberals. But it’s big government conservatives who have (purposefully) created a government that can’t pay for its self.
I’m not just talking about Medicare Part D, which literally wasn’t paid for and overpays for drugs as a giveaway to the pharmaceutical industry. I’m talking about how Ronald Reagan socialized medicine when he signed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act.
This law MANDATES that all emergency rooms in all hospitals that take federal money serve anyone who comes to that emergency room, regardless of his or her ability to pay. And it offers no funding to achieve this mandate, which raises the cost of health care for everyone who can pay.
Yes. Reagan socialized medicine, in the dumbest possible way

The whole system needs to be scraped/revamped. Take Government out of the equation and put the consumer back in control. Redesign the system to strengthen the patient-doctor relationship.....

Emphasis on private medical savings accounts that put the consumer back in control and take as much government out of the process as possible. For the poor, give them a direct cash subsidy so they can have their own MSA....allow families to pool MSA, and allow MSAs to be transferred at death to family without estate taxes......

And if your MSA exceeds your need; allow individuals to donate the accumulated funds, turn it into ordinary income, invest, etc. Treat the MSA as if it is a private account for the benefit of the individual.

LMFAO you fucking liberal idiots. First you all say it was Bush's fault. Now that more and more democrats are starting to bail on Obamacare, you are trying to go even further in the past and bring up Reagan? Fucking pathetic.

Don't even have to read the OP. Just another attack on the right because you can't defend your lord and savior. Even the democrats are leaving the ship, don't you the sense to leave with them?

Dumb CJ; commenting without facts; MOST Americans do not have an MSA......the problems with skyrocketing health costs has very little (almost nothing) to do with the existence of MSA accounts. Just the opposite.

Less than 15.5 million Americans are covered by an HSA (MSA) plan.....
There are over 320 million Americans today....

FACT JACK !

Educate yourselves on how Singapore has manged healthcare for their citizens....in a nutshell:
Most observers agree that Singapore’s health system has succeeded in restraining costs while delivering excellent health outcomes. The country has the lowest-cost health system among developed countries and ranks high on all health indicators.

If MSAs are unaffordable and too few; how have they been driving medical costs up ?
