It is the only thing the assholes in Washington care about is their poll numbers.

It is what it is.

The Republicans got their ass handed to them, no doubt about it. Being in denial about that fact means a lesson was not learned.

If you look at any of my post from a month ago when Cruz and company started this whole " shut the government down because of OBamaCare" shit, I said that history tells us it is a Bad idea, Bad with a Capitol "B".

We even had history telling us this, but as you know, those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it's mistakes.

all the congressional vets like Mccain were in the in the auditorium telling the youngsters and their hard headed followers to sit down and stfu because they had the experience of the 95 shutdown collecting cobwebs in their brief case .. Like you, I reminded this board of the results of that too... given the current evidence, don't expect the youngsters and their brick headed obstructionists to learn anything, anytime soon.

doomed being the keyword in you post.

There has been a downward trend in Congress' job approval since 2010, with approval ratings in 2011 and 2012 each lower than the year before. Notably, approval dropped to as low as 13% in August, October, and November of 2011 during the previous threat of a default, and reached 11% in December of that year. Subsequently, approval fell to its all-time low of 10% in February and August of 2012.

October 9, 2013, Right near the start of the shutdown. LOL. I do like Gallup. Lets see what the numbers look like next week when polling from this week is done. Dems are riding down right along with them.
Quote:
These findings come from a Gallup poll conducted Oct. 3-6 that followed the Oct. 1 partial government shutdown after lawmakers in Washington were unable to pass a spending plan for the federal government.

More than six in 10 Americans (62%) now view the GOP unfavorably, a record high. By comparison, nearly half of Americans (49%) view the Democratic Party unfavorably. Roughly one in four Americans see both parties unfavorably.
Quote:
The Democratic Party also has a public image problem -- although not on the same elephantine scale as that of the Republican Party -- with 43% viewing the Democratic Party favorably, down four percentage points from last month.
