Surprised nobody has typed "Fight Club" yet...
You know the interesting thing about these events? We all know what the girls look like from their pics...but not the guys. You might have a preconceived notion of what the guys look like, based on their posts and reviews here. And then you get there, a buddy points out the dude across the room and says "That's _____"
And you're like... Really???

Knew who you were Luke (and so did the ladies) by the light saber dangling between your legs. If TinMan came we'd all know it was him by the Tom Terrific hat. I always wanted to ask Say What "Where did you find that cool question mark?" And if Juan Pablo shows up with his Thompson Typewriter...run like hell!

Back in the day my approach was the opposite -- the only socials I went to were the "big" ones that accepted essentially anyone who could pass screening. Not that I got many (or any) invitations to smaller groups, but it just wasn't my thing. Turned out the "big" socials weren't either. And today I wouldn't go anyway. The downside seems to be increasing in recent years.

I agree with Lola. Also, I'd prefer not to attend a big social/event for a site that has been "outed" on Dallas news. What would be the chance of attending the social and one of the members are involved in the "I-team?" LOL.
Now I have managed to make some fantastic friends here off eccie, but by no means, do I even care to put them in a special "group" or be in an "entourage".
Also, I don't see the point of any "groups" here. I don't understand the social heirarchy here other than providers and hobbyists (Even the mods fall into these two categories). If you social life is dependent on the social heirarchy of a hooker board, then you really need to get a life.

Social Hierarchy...I love that point, BSB.
We have all seen informal social groups before. Think about that group of cackling hens at the office that all go to lunch together every day. Or, the way in which people, often with similar interests, congregate in small groups in a gym. Dear Jesus...think about the little groups that form at your church!
It's not my place to say who should eat, squat, or pray together. It ain't just happening here. It's human nature. Those outside of the group don't have to understand or approve. If you want to share a plate of fajita nachos, go to lunch with them. Otherwise, enjoy the relative peace associated with eating a burger alone. The beauty of it is...the choice is yours.
But, for the love of all that's holy, I wish that people would stop bitching about those that have company at lunch!
Now, BSB, if you'd like, I would gladly give you a spot the next time you do squats at the gym? Good Lawd, woman...juicy booty!

My ECCIE Reviews
|
I have attended more than a handful of socials and I think that they are great and lots of fun. The bigger the better. Usually girls get to go home with an appointment the same night, Its like being paid to party haha j/k. But really I don't see the harm in cliques. Everyone wants to feel like they belong/accepted by like minded people. I was contemplating starting my own "Ebony provider fan club" myself...
It is very easy for the hobby to become your social life. For women (ateast the ones whom this is our only occupation) this is our career, we keep up with the boards, we are interested in what is being said, we contribute to the community. Who says this is not a place you can make friends. I find it hard to make friends with people out side of the hobby, you have to a lot of lieing and you cant talk about what you may want to talk about candidly.
If we had a regular job you would make friends there, go out to have a beer or cocktail with a few co-workers you felt you connected with. I know I did when I worked regular jobs, people always went out after work and hung out outside of work!
Sure it may become obvious that some people are more popular than others, and like high -school many people are going to talk about the popular people behind their backs. Then god-forbid one popular person says something about another popular person (lola vs shep). Thats when them and their friends start a war. I don't think the social groups are to blame for this. Popularity is to blame. So many people have been waiting on the day that they get to kick these two while they are down.
Look at how tabloids talk about celebrities... I often think of that whenever I feel I am being criticized, the more fame you gain, the more people want to see you brought back down to size. Imagine being a celebrity and having to know all those tabloids are out there talking soooo much shit about you ALL the time? I wonder how they deal with it, oh yea they just don't forget that the majority of people would kill to be in their shoes.
Eccie is like something that is to be conquered, the more reviews you accumulate the better you are, the more people you can get to sport your avatar, the better you are (as far as how you are doing on this board, not in life in general, don't get me confused I am only talking about "eccie reality" which translates to more money for girls, and more porps for the men).
I mean even eccie acknowledges this by posting the "top reviewers" on the front page. It is meant to show that these are the leaders, the most seasoned, top participators here.
There are lots of guys who wish they could afford to see as many women as the top reviewers do.
There are a lot of girls who wish they could get 200-400-600 reviews and be the TOP provider on eccie (defined by how many reviews you have).
I know there will be plenty people who negate this, as there are plenty of people who say they would never want to live the life of a rock-star.
But when that rock star falls, of it is a glorious day for the pions lol (they thought they were so hot, and now they're not!) You get the point I am trying to make?
That is why the most successful providers on this board never say a word on any topic. The less one knows about you the better. none of the top reviewers or top girls who get reviewed, hardly ever post.
Never the less, a hobbyist isn't depending on this websites approval to keep money flowing into his pocket, so hobbyist have very little to lose, except a little pride maybe.
A provider however, has to avoid drama at all costs or else she may be looking for a regular job soon lol.
and not to say eccie can make or break a girl... but it can put a dent in things.
Ither way I think both parties involved in the recent fiasco have more than enough supporters to not have anything to worry about. I mean you don't fight that hard for a person, and then end up not still being their friend/client... after the storm.

Very good and appropriate post Tin ...
My experience with the 7 groups Ive been invited to had been great until the last one that inspired the OP to post I believe ... at the end, not all the groups are bad by definition, but by the motivations behind them ... I will focus on the good side tho, the bad I already posted it on the alert so I don't want to hijack this thread ...
I attended the groups because I am a very social person and I enjoy meeting new people ...
Every gathering, I would propose myself to meet all the ladies attending, dance, drink, play poker, ride the mechanical bull and maybe someone else at the end of the night LOL, laugh but mostly have lots of fun ... I enjoyed greatly having a glimpse of the human part of everyone ... I remember one of the ladies used to ask me at the end of the gathering how many new girlfriends I had made that night , you know who I am if you're reading this ... dont say please ...
The value of meeting someone new, exchanging hobby phones, talking a little, helped a lot in the process of future visits ... Putting a face to a handle was awesome ... Meeting the guys, making toasts, exchanging information about the ladies -the purpose of this board- and taking face to face recommendations was again, invaluable ...
I got to meet many many people, including the top reviewers, Hobby legends, gals and guys, Mods, some gone now, and also the Eccie Owners ... they graciously accepted invitations to several of this groups to meet us and share briefly with us ... Thank you guys ...
Tin, if I knew you were attending to a gathering that I happen to be invited as well, I would certainly introduce myself to buy you a drink and have a very productive and thrilling chat... I think you are an exceptional person and a Hobby Legend -by what I read and have heard-
If you consider your self restriction of attending to any group or socializing with fellow hobbyists, Il'l be more than happy to buy you a shot of Tequila ...
Cheers
DDV

That sounds ideal.
I really value your objectivism. It's so helpful to step back and look at things as a whole when they get too confusing close up. I love your threads topics and I'll be sure to swooningly eXXXtend my appreciation next time I see ya. lol

Before this one gets sidetracked any more with threAD posts instead of discussing the topic at hand...
As Mr. Doc and Mr. Tinman so eloquently put it, the market is just to large for so few to have the influence some bestow. Social groups, cliques, etc. will always exist in any environment where people gather, period. You can either choose to accept it, or you can choose to dwell upon it. The more influence you personally give these "people", the more they will influence your decisions. But they can only influence you if you allow it.
I often am told the same statement by ladies "he/she wants to ruin my business". Really? Only YOU can let someone else ruin your business or your hobbying.
Period.

Always figured demand made prices higher if u curve urself from hobbying just a lil thn prices wud fall, but the community is getting huge, its getting to be a norm in society for our hobby more n more man n woman r joining "our thing" so expect prices to rise n future cause of the abundance, Dallas is the Mecca so there's a curve we have set for the rest

After the first one or two I went to, I just went to check out the ladies from some discreet corner. You'd be surprised what can be learned being a fly on the wall drinking tonic water.
