Never got a chance to see him, since he didn't tour much. He takes up a large % of my IPod.

Know what you mean, Mal, but that "F" on the end could have another meaning.

I still listen to " Naturally" from time to time............back in the early 70's I had this job as a usher at the Municipal Auditorium. I think I got payed like $8 per event lol. Anyway one of the jobs perks, was you got to see the events... The old Big 8 preseason tournament, NAIA tournament, etc. Plus the concerts. CCR,the Stones, the Allman Brothers, and many more.............I had the good forturne to see JJ Cale open for Rare Earth.

Saw him in 77 and then again in 81 and no he did not tour often. The first time I saw Skynard, before they sang Call me the breeze, Ronnie Van Zant said that the next song was written by a "friend of ours that would just as soon pick up his fishin pole as pick up his guitar."...LOL. Cocaine remains the only song that ever rose to #1 by two different artists..

What is interesting is that something like 70 of his songs have been recorded by other artists.. It's fun to listen to him do original versions that are a completly different tempo..

Both times I saw him he did an extended version of Clyde that was quite a jam...always my favorite..

He was a great song writer. I remember back in the day he was one of my favorites. I always had one of his tapes near by. Listened to him just about every day. Another icon lost. RIP JJ.
