You can either stay in the Central Business District (CBD) or Metairie. Metairie is good b/c there are a lot of mid-priced hotels which are discreet & anonymous off Veterans, Clearview, or Causeway, parking isn't an issue for customers & decent food & shopping is close by either @ Clearview Mall or down in River Ridge--but you have to drive to get to it. Don't stay @ the Days Inn on the I-10 Service Road along w/EVERY girl off of BP; also don't stay @ the La Quinta on Causeway--I like La Quinta's & have stayed @ them across the country & find them to be decent enough inexpensive lodging but the one in Metairie is the only one I ever checked out of three days early b/c it was just... GROSS & SCARY (other La Quinta's in the area ought to be fine--one in Slidell is nice, the one in the CBD is nice...)
CBD is fine b/c you're close the casino (for customers who got lucky & want to continue to... get lucky), French Qtr. for tourists & also yourself if you want to go walk around or get something to eat: yes, the really really good restaurants are in NOLA proper (and I don't mean "expensive". I mean "great food". There's perfectly GOOD food in Metairie. There's AMAZING food in NOLA; if you want good food & local but only want to spend $15, local chain New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Co. 7-8 all over NOLA & Metairie, several right on Veterans. Good burgers, AMAZING buffalo-shrimp po-boys...). But parking is a pain in the ass even on a Saturday night if customers need street parking, you're going to have to PAY for parking your OWN vehicle while you're staying @ a CBD hotel, some of the hotels are nosey (according to what I've heard some local girls say), and it can be expensive to stay there.
I've seen girls who stayed IN the Fr. Qtr. as well--but that's a pain if you're a local & don't live there. Fr. Qtr. hotels are for tourists & girls who are trying to get tourists--and there's nothing wrong w/that. But if a local calls, make sure you make clear if you're staying IN the Qtr. that he knows that's where you are before he gets downtown, then cusses b/c he has to park a mile away in the CBD & walk all the way up to see you in the Qtr. Granted, it's the middle of summer, Mardi Gras is long past, there's no festivals happening, and everyone has the a/c on & is praying for November, so parking might not be bad & might not run into any issues w/that if you do stay either downtown or in the Qtr. And the food really is amazing.
Even West Bank: some locals won't go there, but w/a Barnes & Noble & a Starbucks, how bad is it really going to be? There are some lower-priced hotels there, and it can look a little creepy sometimes, but I've seen girls on Manhattan (not WALKING on Manhattan--STAYING @ a place on Manhattan Blvd) after dark & never given it another thought. Stay close to the businesses on Manhattan though--I'll admit that parts of the WB are NOT the "safe zone."
Don't stay in NOLA-East; frankly, I wouldn't stay in Mid-City either. I like Mid-City & live there & feel perfectly safe there--but none of the HOTELS in Mid-City are in good areas, so again: not the "safe zone."
Either in Metairie or CBD: during the week, remember that customers who call when they get off of work @ 5-6:30, unless they're in Metairie & YOU'RE in Metairie, or they're already downtown & YOU'RE downtown, are going to take a long time to get there. Traffic is just awful during that time (does anyone live in a city w/a GOOD rush hour? Still... I was surprised @ how bad it gets on I-10). What takes me normally 10 mins., right now, from NOLA-Metairie or the reverse, took 30 mins. Friday afternoon. It won't be perfect: if you stay in Metairie all of us who call you will wind up being in NOLA & bitch b/c we have to drive out there. If you stay in the CBD, all of us who call you will wind up being in Metairie or the WB & bitch b/c we have to drive there. Really either one is fine: avoid the specific places mentioned, go online to check rates, and ask some of the local girls about other specific hotels after you've narrowed down the list to see if there are issues at any of them. Good luck! Have a safe trip here! Let me know if you have more questions. Eat @ Drago's while you're here: either the original one in Metairie or the new one downtown; Butcher makes a GREAT sandwich, & you probably already know about Café du Monde. But if you're in Metairie & want late-night coffee & beignets, I'd pick Morning Call (behind Lakeview Mall) every time.

Wasn't there a big bruhaha several months back about the hotels in Metairie causing trouble for the single ladies who check in?
I could have sworn that I read that staying in Metairie wasn't a good idea these days. I was in that town about five years ago and loved the Sheraton that I was in.
But in those topics, even mention of that nice Sheraton was included.
Am I remembering this correctly?
Thanks,
Elisabeth

You gave me lots of helpful info that helped me to have a relaxing and fun stay while in New Orleans. I want to say Thank You, I am glad you took time out to type all of this for " home girl " since I asked.
Hope to meet with you this trip, Old Horn Dog! I know I'm a spinner and all but I can assure you I can make all your dreams come true!
