Default Firefly

I don't know if any of our wonderful SA area providers are fans of Joss Whedon's geeky cult show "Firefly." Either way, the show introduces a take on the hobby that I like.

Five hundred years into the future, we've left earth. It was simply used up. New earths were terraformed and a new civilization has developed. In that civilization, providers are called "companions." It's a HIGHLY respected profession. Those who enter it attend an academy and, upon graduation, are treated as near royalty.

If only our present society were so forward thinking.

As a birthday gift a year ago, I received the whole series on Blu Ray, and have never even opened up yet. I hear it's a great show, and hopefully I'll find the time to just chill over a weekend and watch a good chunk of episodes. We had a trivia question about this series a few months back. Something about some group of people called Browncoats. We missed it, and the answer was sitting on my fireplace mantel the whole time! LOL

Never seen it either. I always thought it was just a live action version of the Outlaw Star anime. Will have to see if Netflix has it.

Both Firefly (the series) and Serenity (the movie) are on Netflix.

There was only a single, fantastic season...plus a feature film.

Marcus, you need to watch! And the movie as well, Serenity.

Awesome and addicting show, 4 beauties: Gina Torres, Summer Glau, Jewel Staite & most important, Morena Baccarin as the companion Inara Serra.

it is a cool show and their approach to the profession is very cool. I only wish they showed a little of the companion in action, not much shown as I recall.

And here is an interesting shot of the four of them...

I loved Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles which also featured Summer Glau. Also, she's a San Antonio native which gives her extra points in my book! The rest of ladies aint half bad looking either...

Much love for Firefly.

Jewel Staite will be at the Space City Con in Houston at the beginning of August, and scheduled for the Austin Comic Con in Nov.
