Great deserts at Grand Lux Cafe. Like Cheesecake Factory.

Great seafood at Goode Company seafood. Try a Campachana, it's like seafood salsa, very good.

Fuzzy's pizza is pretty good also as well as Ruso's New York pizza.

Katz's is good for New York style deli. Open 24 hours. Closest location to you would be the Westheimer one close to Montrose Blvd.

Default Galleria Eats

Holly, welcome to Houston! I've dined with lovely ladies at all of the venues below, and they are excellent.

In the Galleria area, consider:

Trulucks - great seafood and awesome wine bar

Capital Grille - incredible steaks and ambiance

Post Oak Grill - very fine

Tango and Malbec - Argentina food

Ragin Cajun - simple but authentic Cajun (not too far from Galleria on Richmond; inexpensive and fun)

Enjoy!

Trulucks, Post Oak Grille as mentioned before. But with that avatar seems more likely you would be the feast rather than the feaster...!

Will we be limiting our dining experience to a certain budget or particular area of Houston?

My list is primarily unique to Houston or a few locations around the country type of places. Most importantly the food on the menu is almost universally great.

Actually, I don't dine at italian places so I can't offer input on that category either. I enjoy italian food but can't stomache dropping $15-30 for a plate of pasta. So the only thing I ever do is homemade. My father taught me how to make a bolognese that is good enough I could probably bottle and sell it. My eggplant parmigiana is pretty fantastic also :]

Fair enough. Seemed like a glaring omission but your explanation is understandable it.
For the record I like dumpster diving at Cavatore's and Spaghetti Warehouse...ijs
