Default Movie Thread....

just recently saw "The Lords of Salem" ....wow what a boring piece of crap that was. you would think a Rob Zombie movie couldn't be that bad, the reviews were kind of mixed on it. when you compare it to his some of his other stuff (House of 1000 Corpses or Devils Rejects) this one is very tame in the blood/violence department.

I believe it was supposed to be that way. I haven't seen it but I want to.

I recently saw Oblivion, new Tom Cruise movie. No Academy Awards, but I had a good time and enjoyed it. I am really looking forward to some of the other big blockbusters out this summer, such as.....Iron Man 3, Star Trek, Lone Ranger, Man of Steel. There are probably others.

I haven't done the "comic book hero" stuff, since junior high. However this past fall, while enjoying the company of Bristol for an overnight visit, we decide to see the Avengers movie. The one with all the comic book heroes, that so many people were raving about.

I enjoyed several nice sips of green tea, and with one very hot and cool chick...off to the movies we went.

About one hour into it...I asked if she was as bored with this grade school level movie as I was.

She quickly said yes...and of course we went on to far more enjoyable adult entertainment.

Yea...everyone is definitely entitled to pick their own form off entertainment. No question about that.

And I'm definitely not looking for classics or culture at the movies...just some adult level entertainment.

So to each there own...but still shanking my head with amuzement.

So we can all sit back and watch another summer of Hollywood re-do's. and sequels...as there is certainly very little pressure on them to get even remotely creative.
Can't blame them...they're just giving the masses what they crave for.

For the rest of us...well Cable TV has 100's of channels, lol

I will pass on the blood and guts stuff, but I don't mind a little mindless adventure if it is well done. I sat through The Avengers and was entertained. Girl With the Dragon Tatoo was very stimulating on several different levels, and I enjoyed the series of books as well.

I saw Lincoln recently. No blood guts or gore, except for a few scenes of a battlefield and a hospital. Fascinating movie for those who want to see how politics really work and realize that things haven't changed all that much in 150 years.

Totally agree with Lincoln...nice combo of entertainment mix in with a little politics

My fav scene, was when the Congress was having a heated debate as to whether the free slaves would also have the right to vote. Both sides were strongly discussing their point of view.

Then one of the Congressmen said...next thing, women will want the right to vote. And the entire Congress...both sides...clearly stated "no way". Probably was not historical, but definitely a funny scene.

And hell yes...I'm all for mindless entertainment....just not mindless entertainment geared to a 5th grader!!! Enjoyed D'jango & Pulp Fiction was one of my favs.

JCM, sadly I hear ya, with regards to not being able to hobby constantly, lol.

Just a friendly suggestion...stay away from Rob Zombie flicks, lol (However, went to one of his concerts in LA, couple of years ago,...took me 2 days to hear anything, music was just OK, but had I had a blast & enjoyed all his theatrical stuff on stage.)

Agree with you on those two. Can't really think of a QT movie I didn't like.

I just saw D'jango and enjoyed it. Although it doesn't come close to my favoriet QT movie, which is Inglorious Bastards.
