I say leave it the way it is.

that's how I voted in the poll

I'd say leave the Sandbox alone and create a "Political Forum" that was strictly modded to intelligent discussions without the BS. I'd reccomend the OK mods, can't say anything that isn't politically correct there.

For people who want a more "enlighten" discussion of less volatile subjects, there is always Diamonds and Tuxedos.

This Sucks. 98 percent of all the post in The Sandbox are politically related. Hell, just about EVERYTHING now days is politically related.

Who gives a shit if many of the locals engage in the old "your mama wears combat boots" rhetoric. It is a direct reflection on how far apart many in the Nation are on some of the key issues that are facing us all now, and will face us in the future.

It takes a thick skin to survive in todays world, and it should take a thick skin to survive in the Sandbox.

Just move your thick skin over to the Political Forum. Simple, same discussions/same attitudes

That was part of the problem, that other legitimate topics were drowned out by the other rhetoric. Moving the more volatile discussions there fixes that issue.

Default YAY!!!

I'm for the National Sandbox becoming civilized with topics that lend themselves to a LOT less hostility and divisiveness. There needs to be a place where non-hobby, somewhat more "real world" things can be posted and discussed without having to suit up in asbestos/Kevlar-lined armor and a quiver full of nukes at the ready. That would probably foster more participation by members who can probably guess that a "Political" section will be, by definition, a lot more frisky.

The new Politics Forum can be the "no holds barred" sewer, although I'd like to see more effort by our highly paid staff of mods to attempt to keep the threads at least within sight of the tracks - completely on track is probably a bit much to ask.

Putting aside political correctness for a minute, folks posting blatant lies, half-truths and the usual twisted cut'n'pasties don't really deserve much of a "politeness break" since those efforts are dilatory time wasters crafted to send debunkers off on serious wild goose chases.

Sometimes, a hearty Hi-Ho, @%&# You! gets the job done.

Can someone get a LARGE "Roll-the-Eyes" emoticon added?

I think that some of us can discuss the issues of the day without the stupid comments unrelated to the topic and the insulting profanity. You can still be insulting, just do it with style.

Yeah, JD is known far and wide for not making "stupid comments unrelated to the topic." And I'm certain no one would ever accuse JD of using "insulting profanity." And we all know that when he actually resorts to insults, he does so with style.

Yep, that is JD all right!
