Story posted 2013.04.07 at 03:28 PM PDT

A 30-year-old woman suffered a heart attack while running a half-marathon in San Francisco Sunday, a fire dispatcher said.

Paramedics responded to a report of a collapsed runner taking part in the San Francisco Rock n' Roll Half Marathon near Marina Boulevard and Laguna Street at about 9:45 a.m., according to San Francisco Fire Department dispatch.

The woman was in cardiac arrest and was revived by paramedics, the dispatcher said.

She was taken to a hospital a remains in serious condition, the dispatcher said.

A spokesperson for the race did not immediately return a call seeking more information.

Heart problems seem to be more and more genetic then environmental when you read about healthy folks going into cardiac arrest.

While back we had the healthiest of health nuts in our gym. Ate right, exercised constantly. Participated in all kinds of triathlons. One day after running the track he just passed out and went into cardiac arrest. If it weren't for the nearby AED he may have had permanent damage.

Never forget the EMT that came. "See what healthy living gets ya? Eat and drink all ya want and just enjoy life"

Prolongus- sharks never ever concerned me-- the Maui Channel swim a little different and has been called due to sightings.. sea lions can bite in the SF Bay if confronted- that can be pretty painful so I am told.. biggest fear are the currents and primarily hypothermia.. but in general it is a very safe event.. friends of mine are in the bay several times/week.

you are 100% correct- when your time is up..it is up...

Actually, it's from the KTVU Channel 2 News local SF - that's my home turf, always keeping up with what's going on in those parts.

No shark problems clearly. With lawyers in the water, no self respecting shark would bite due to the chance of eating one of his own kind.QUOTE=Prolongus;105265909 5]How do you avoid the sharks?
