Took hold of the edge of my laptop screen to move it and crack.
I knew they were delicate but dang! Emily Dickinson could have
written a poem about just how much.
Don't try it yourself to see if it's true, just take my word for it.
The old one will make a nice target for my AR10 Rifle when I take
it off. If you're gonna do something do it right.
Should have read the instructions where it says, never take hold of,
use a hammer or pliers to adjust, submerge in ice cold water, run
over with a peterbilt, drag behind a 69 shovelhead, or otherwise
molest the screen of your laptop.
I closed my company laptop in my hotel room when I got up to go to dinner. When it closed you could hear the crackling of the screen. The entire screen shattered. I did not slam it or abuse it.
Where do y'all go to fix your screens? I saw a company on eBay, but I would have to mail it in. Surely a big city like Dallas has a walk-in mender vendor?

Pretty much any computer repair shop should be able to handle a screen replacement. The problem comes when you realize that a new screen might cost more than 50% of the computer's value, depending on age and configuration. Sometimes it might be worth spending a little more on a brand new computer, especially if all you need it for is Internet and simple office tasks.
If you're just wanting to spend the cash on a repair, I suggest buying the screen yourself if you're 100% sure you are getting the right one, then just take it to a repair shop and pay them for the hour or so it would take to replace the screen for you.
The company advertises on EBay, the screen ships out of Houston, ordered it one day and received it the next, under $100.00 delivered, website has reference numbers you compare your screen number to printed on the back of the screen to see who Mfg'ed the screen in your machine, website video shows a AA lady sitting at the dining room table disassembling her laptop and removing the screen, I think it was10-12 tiny Phillips head screws and carefully unplug the copper harness and wala! Pretty straight forward, dummy proof. Dell wanted $220. - $230.00 + tax & ship for the 17" screen mine required, this was a deal.
Don't close power cords or usb cords between the screen & keyboard by accident, mine screen looked like a spiderweb.
