Default Bumping Threads

Folks,

We should consider creating a new thread after a post has been dormant for one month. I suggest perhaps that value should be one week.

Eccie has no firm policy on bumping old threads. It used to be that if a thread had been dormant for around 30 days, we didn't like you to bump it. That is no longer the case. What we do ask is that if you bump a thread, have something novel or new to add to it. But no one is going to jump you for bumping an old thread.

But John I believe this is for non-review/discussion type threads only. For review threads I have always been under the impression that we are not to bump anything where it has been over 30 days since the previous post. And it seems like there has been quite a bit of review bumping here recently. Or has that changed?

Per Forum Guidelines
#13 - In our review forums, be mindful of the 'maturity' of threads you are posting to, ie. the date of the last item posted. We ask that you refrain from posting to a review in which the last post was made 30 or more days ago. Some exceptions may apply if you are providing relevant, valuable or updated information about the provider, but as a general rule of thumb, this can best be accomplished by writing a new review altogether and avoiding the bumping of old ones. This applies to our review forums, in particular, as discussion threads are often allowed to flow for an unspecified length of time.

I'd like to bump something and its not a thread......and probably not what you're thinking either.

Nah Bull, I think all of us are saying the same thing. Let's just use common sense. Bump threads that might need a refresh but if it is something entirely new, start a new thread.

The recent thread that was bumped was kind of a hotly discussed thread. Those we should extend even more scrutiny with regards to unearthing.
