Email
I'm sorry if anyone received an email from me today with a link in it. I obviously didn't send it.
I have changed my password. If you get anything like that from me again, please let me know and I'll just change my email address.
Sorry

This email tried to download malware onto my android. I believe I got it stopped in time. I would advise others to delete without opening.
Of greater concern is the mailing list attached to the email.....
Many other email addresses.

It's a link redirect to a Trojan masquerading as an Android security pkg upgrade. Recommend grits and any other Android users install something like Lookout

It acts as a network proxy allowing remote servers to send/receive traffic over connected networks. The email link routes to

What happened to my email, is something that has happened to many hobbyists and has happened to a couple other ladies, no one complained when that happened.
My email list has and will always be discrete, with the exception of this time. No one was sent a mass email with every person's email address shown so all could see who is in my email list. You saw a few other names and that's it. I went through all the emails sent and saw who received what.
Everyone should be getting an apology email from me, if they choose not to open it I understand.
I just wanted to apologize publicly because I feel bad.

And I apologize if I sounded like I was attacking or blaming you. I was not. I know I didn't get your whole list...just saw a bunch of names before I deleted the email without counting them.
The point I was making was that the real problem with being hacked is the sharing of the email addresses. But whatcha gonna do.....hire a courier to carry telegrams back & forth?
And you're right....the same thing happened to Gia a while back. You were at least proactive enough to get the warning on the board quickly. She wasn't.
Again...
Sorry if I sounded like I was scolding.

Elena,
Just as a precaution, you might consider running a scan on your PC. Spybot Search and Destroy and then maybe Malwarebytes. They are both free software. I would also suggest everyone do that once in a while. You probably are fine but...

Gimli,
do you provide pc tech support? Rates for Good Field Engineering (GFE) support? Or if someone needs Perfect System Engineering (PSE) support, should they call the Greek Squad?
:-)

I know I try to be careful, don't click on links etc that I don't know, scan for viruses, keep things up to date, but once in a while an ooops happens. Usually when I get in a hurry and I click the mouse button without the mouse pointer in the right place and snap, you just get infected.
You did everything right MsE, just the silliest things can happen to get information out where you don't want it.

Thank you guys.
I ran all the virus/spybot stuff yesterday. A friend of mine is a computer wiz, so I called him as soon as I saw what happened.
Again.......I'm really sorry.

actually I am a computer tech and backup network admin. I work for pennies tho, I do most the work but.
Malware can be caught anywhere. From facebook ads to Good Housekeeping's website. There is a lot of assholes out there that write viruses and cause grief.
