Just wanted to give my thoughts.
1. While this is a hobby to the guys it's a business for the ladies. In many ways your business model is like that of a consultant. You are going to have dry periods and to survive those you have to have cash reserves. I would say at least 4-6 months of cash reserves. People get sick, people get hurt, business drops off. You need cash reserves to deal with it.
2. Have you ever attended events such as the poker tournament social to meet and greet people? Back in the day when the "P"was throwing a lot of socials the smartest ladies would always attend them and would make a point to work the crowd and say a few words to as many men as possible.
3. A lady I had the pleasure of knowing who use to be the #1 rated escort in the US for a lot of years once told me that one does not become elite by self proclamation. You work your way up to it. The ladies I know who commanded top dollar started out with very normal rates, $200-$250. As the demand went up they were able to raise the rates without losing any business.
4. Like it or not $250 is the benchmark. Any thing above $250 and you had better look as good as they get with great personality to match. Guys just are NOT comfortable paying above $250. While there are lots of guys who do pay more they are not regulars on this board. We're K-Mart.
5. If you have not gotten any business for two weeks take a look at where you are advertising. Are you spending enough time answering request? Are you as visible as you can be.
6. Don't get discouraged or down on yourself. Four (4) of the greatest escorts this city ever saw were well into their 40s at the height of their popularity.
