I will say that I am less dubious of home schooling than I was when it first became hip, because of progressive groups that provide the opportunities for kids to socialize during their formative years, like arts and athletic programs. Couple of kids on our block were home schooled. However, neither of them could stay in the middle school in which they were enrolled because of behavioral issues.

They kept pretty much to themselves. But for them, home schooling was the only real option.

That said, I still believe that home schooling is more a reflection of a parent's rather than a child's needs. And I didn't see any particularly brilliant faculty members, so to speak.

Just my opinion.

The left opposed homeschooling; for most reasons that Germany has made it illegal..

“The Supreme Court of Germany declared that the purpose of the German ban on homeschooling was to ‘counteract the development of religious and philosophically motivated parallel societies.”.....

Sounds like state mandated thought control, or totalitarianism to me...

Author Eric Hoffer argues you will have a nascent, “true believing” communist (like Doofus) . . . or fascist.

Everyone has a need to believe that life has meaning, that we're here for a reason; that's human nature. Religion meets that need with faith in God. Socialism/communism meets that need with the belief that we can all work together and achieve perfect fairness, a socialist uptopia, Heaven on Earth. That's why left wingers tend to be more zealous in their political views; their politics is their religion; it's what gives their life meaning. If you challenge their political views, you're threatening them at their core.

it is why they consider conservatives evil, not just wrong, but evil.

and any underhandedness and viciousness or untruth can be justified

You'll never see the light, Assup the jackass, until you pull your head out of your ass, wipe away the shit and open your eyes to reality.
