Total newbie hereas far as posting goes, but I've been a lurker forever. Apart from the first review I posted, this was the only other post that would draw me out. This sounds like a helluva idea, and I would be up for the game (and games)! Make this happen!

Well I am all up for it. Not sure how to get all the details sorted out or how far away from the eccie boards we have to keep things regarding the discussion.

I am thinking I know someone who could be the full time dealer (totally just deal and occasionally serve drinks), everyone do a buy in and have a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

Rake is the percentage that the house/casino takes from the players. Basically, it is how the casinos make money from a poker table. Usually they take a set percentage from each pot (amount varies, as does how big the pot needs to be in order to qualify).

It was kind of a joke -- I wouldn't take money from the guys who did play. Although they could "tip the dealer" by buying me a lap dance or something

No reason at all. We haven't hashed out any details, but I'm assuming that the entertainers would get some kind of donation so we'd have to decide how that all works. But no fair flashing the table to distract us when you have a good hand. Oh, who am I kidding? That would be OK.

the only poker night i was a part of had a $10 buy in and you could buy in for another $10 up to something like 30 minutes into the game. but the goal of that was to win a portion of the pot - not sure how the girl factor would play out here but i'd be ridiculously interested.

I'm thinking the buy in should be low enough that guys aren't scared off, and that we all have enough cash left over to tip the ladies. But it needs to be high enough that there is a decent prize for winning, and so that guys don't just throw away their chips and goof off with the ladies.

I'm thinking $20-$40 with the same amount as a re-buy. Given typical re-buys, and 6-8 players, that's between $150 and $300 as a purse (which may just end up being traded in for playtime...)
