Why did the feds drop their 2-year investigation? I think strings were pulled by Weisel, a wealthy and well connected Democratic donor.

He lives in Nancy Pelosi's district. Enough said.

Mr. Weisel in a prior interview on banned drugs in cycling..
“Handle the problem below the surface and keep the image of the sport clean,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “In the U.S. sports — baseball, basketball, football — most fans couldn’t care less.”

Why the U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California dropped the 2-year investigation against Armstrong last February remains a critical and an unanswered question that begs to be answered. I am no fan of Nancy Pelosi, but I very seriously doubt if either she or Mr Weisel could have or did have any influence, whatsoever.

Any kind of prosecution is discretionary by nature. However, a case of this magnitude certainly was coordinated at high levels of the DOJ and the decision was either made at the direction of DOJ or at a minimum with their concurrence, imho.

BTW, The Federal Judicial District of Central California is in the South of California and based in Los Angeles. Pelosi's congressional district is situated in Northern California near/ or in San Francisco. None of her congressional district is within the judicial district that had jurisdiction in this matter.

The more I think about this case, the reason prosecution was declined may be due to the international nature and complexity of the facts. For example, all or most of the alleged criminal activities seemed to have occurred out of the United States, ie the doping which may be central to the case. Nevertheless, I can't help but believe that there is a way to successful prosecution. And, I believe this case screams for Federal prosecution. As a citizen of the United States, I am greatly embarrassed that we have a citizen who has, by his own admission, committed these acts and our government stands down, doing nothing. An unacceptable message to others around the world. At the very least, the DOJ owes the public an explanation why the decision was made not to prosecute. Or, they should go forward with a prosecution at this juncture.
