Who is kidding whom. When someone's credentials are being challenged on the board, and/or someone's report/posting about another poster is questioned, I have seen a "we are looking into it" ... and also cautions and warnings about multiple handles.

It's always a "computer" problem when someone needs an excuse, but I am familiar with the ability to identify the source of information received and sent on the internet.

Have no fear my friends....... The Dude is just fine...... Was blissfully away at my Ranch away from all of this for the weekend and New Years......

Now a couple things quick after reading thru some of this...... I am listed on the NBL.... For agreeing with other hobbyists in calling a girl out for being full of shit on an alert which was later proven to be bogus..... So therein lies the validity (or lack there of) of every post on that site...... Sadly it could be something good for the ladies, but for all intents and purposes its bullshit.....

A LOT I want to respond to so I'll make it quick on each one.....

First and foremost the underlying lesson that should be learned by ALL is do NOT, under ANY circumstances give your Real Life info to anyone or anything in relation to this hobby...... For each "trustworthy" person for this information there are 1000 that are not! Your information ONLY gets out because you have allowed it to get out. Hobby Email hobby hone and hobby handles are set forth for your protection. Use them and trust no one. Better to be paranoid and over protected than to face the consequences IMHO.....

LL, yes that technology is out there..... But answer me this..... What happens when a site like Eccie crosses that line? The first time its used to "prove" that Hobbyist A or Provider Z posted this or that and is "Only" used for that and NOT to gather personal information.... How could anyone really be sure? And whats to keep that fuzzy line from growing wider and wider? Its just too slippery a slope with very little to be gained in doing so.

Outing it Outing. PERIOD. Is it more "right" for one to do than the other? No. NEVER! Realize that is a line you can not un-cross...... You are an "Outer" the second you do that. You cease to be even remotely trustworthy once you do that and/or threaten to do such a thing. What is to be gained by doing so? Do you really think an "eye for an eye" makes things right? And if you out someone who is/has outed you, do you think that will prevent them from doing more or going further? My advise is to distance yourself from the situation, phone number, handles, emails etc. As fast and far as possible. You got fucked over royaly.... Nothing you do will undo that. Live and learn and move on. Let that person hang themselves with their actions.... They WILL! "Returning the favor" will only strengthen their resolve and provide simpathy for someone who does not deserve it.

Private area leaks are nothing new. From either side. When someone admits to, or is proven to have had access to an area they are not supposed to they go away. PERIOD. But we don't keep suspending them over the same incident over and over. New incidents recieve new punishments..... But we don't double/triple up on the same infraction. But the general public also doesn't get to know why people get the ban unless that person wants everyone to know.

Finally...... Fishing for personal information HERE is NOT allowed and I will promise you this...... Let me find out you are recieving/sending such information thru eccie, and I will personally see to you getting an extended boot from this board...... I do not care who you "feel deserves" it, it is a BIG No-No in not only my book, but the entire staff's book. The ladies don't get to get away with that bullshit and neither do the guys. It is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!

I am prohibited (by prior instructions with points) from addressing some of the issues raised in this thread, but it is almost impossible to avoid some personal information from being obtained by providers, if from no other source than "verifying" or "screening" hobbyists, and then that information is available to the "highest bidder" if "inquiry minds want to know" ... the only remedy is zero tolerance .. even when a poster suggests doing so or implies that it would be a "good idea" ... and the variations or endless.

With all due respect ... that has not happened .. the "zero tolerance" ... I have been absolutely raked over the coals, ridiculed, and chastized on this board, even accused of being LE repeatedly, because of my previous posts and those on "outing" ...

... whether it is a desire to "keep things peaceful" ... economic pressures ... friendships .... whatever .. there has not been "zero tolerance" and that atmosphere of laxness perhaps gives some the believe that they can skate on the issue.

I'll just make one observation and then I'm done unless someone has a specific question, and they can PM me ... Karma is a Bitch.

You are operating under the assumption that things were not being done Or that you feel you were being ignored. You would be incorrect either way. If this is in regards to your RMT/LMT Issue with this site, then that is a completely different conversation that has been had. I understand you may not have liked the answers you received in that specific case, but they are not as closely related as you would like others to think in this particular case.

Ok.. did some research and here is what is going on

the NBL operators and I have been going round and round

suffice to say a lady can post anything about anyone over there be it true or false and the will not care, nor ask for verification

So....

the site is hosted AT 1and1.com and is registered at GoDaddy

Their site violates 1and1's AUP/TOS

This is the same hosting company that I had a site taken down for posting my information so the odds are a tad on my side as I can remind them of the prior incident.

Point is that over on the NBL site they will not hold a poster accountable for their words.. all they told me was to hire a lawyer.... which is not always cost effective..

Bottom line is that having a new career in computers, isp's and webhosting companies under my belt gives me the insight to work the AUP/TOS against a site in question.... its called a numbers game. Hosting company has 1 million sites, and growing, they will not check each one and monitor it to see if it breaks aup/tos or starts to..

I'm curious to know how many, if any, of us NBL reportees gave enough of a shit to pony up a subscription fee just to see what some hooktard said about him. I'd be surprised if more than a small percentage of denounced mutts would pay to see that, but - if I'm wrong about that - there would be a clear financial incentive for NBL to not only allow irresponsible posting but also to encourage it.

Just curious... Do any providers actually use NBL for screening? From what I recall (and my knowledge is many years out if date) provider buzz is the main resource.

it might be a scam... negative post gets put on the site, the guy wants to read it. pays the fee (2 months worth, non refundable) reads - challenges it etc..

might be a stretch... all I know is that I will be working to take the site down..
