Okay this is coming from a girl who is well seasoned and never ever been managed, nor never called a manager a friend, thought a manager was "cool", or ever even have known a manager personally aquaintance or any such sorts (and i thank the lord that i have never even

Now about the topic at hand. There are a bunch of ways to make money in this business, i am sure atleast 50% of providers are not on review boards, do not use refrences or screening tools.
So their phone is essentially their screening tool. Lots of judgement from other ladies as far as what class of lady you are if you advertise on Back Page, or simply text previous clients when needed. I really hate when gals say OMG i never heard of that, i would never do that. There are a bunch of ways to do this business in vegas they roam the casinos. Does this make them street walkers because they get hit on by high rollers who offer them prices higher than we are charging on eccie.

What "other" ladies need to understand is that, not every girl is the most in demand girl like you. Not everyone has a line aroud the corner. Just because a girl texts a client and asks him if he feels like playing today does not make her desperate.
I too used to practice this when i was newer in the buisness and i worked very well for me, lots of the guys actually did feel special, they told me oh thanks for saying hello, thanks for checking up on them... i don't have to do it now as my client base is much more expanded.
However i also think that
men who are not apart of a escort community like this where they have verified providers they can research, are more prone to repeat anyways and want more of a keep in contact relationship. Plus they are usually happy to have found a girl they think they can trust to have an arrangement with and simply stick with her.
Example: Do you think that every business that has a commercial, puts a flyer on your door, or even calls you to sale you things. Does this make these corporations desperate? It does not! Its called advertising. If you havent noticed there arent too many ways to advertise for a provider besides ad boards which only a few even bring clients to call yur phoe, Backpage, p411, eccie, maybe date check. Even on these boards it is easy to get over looked. Everyone can't be a Eccie Star... So does this mean those girls should sit at home on the computer updating ads for hours on end waiting hopeing wishing someone would call their phone? I hope not!
I say it is more of an obligation of the hobbyist to have a hobby phone or not use a phone to connect with providers, if they do not want any soliciataion. The phone is about the only way a provider has to stay directly in contact with her clients, besides email (but we are also talking about say providers who do not have an established internet presence)
and finally the OP's last sentence said that he will probably hobby with a provider who texts him than one he has to find and contact completely on his own.
