Exclamation Strong Hand

President Obama is dealing with a much stronger hand in this round and learned how devious the Republicans can be.

He tried to reason on the debt ceiling debacle, but found out the hard way just how adamant his entrenched opponents are.

. . . This time, he won't be as accommodating and we'll have a deal soon!

in a sound world economy a massive debt could cause the people that buy our debt to balk, and drive up interest rates ... as it stands now, thats not going to happen ..and IMO it wont for sometime to come, this country is one of the best investments our creditors can make ... Japan and China arent interested in tossing $$ to Greece. If the world economy starts rocking and growing at a phenom pace investors could call in a portion of their loans that we owe them ... not a world ending situation as some (Boehner) want everyone to believe.

those cute little debt clocks were put there to entertain the wingers ;.. tic tic tic

All excellent points. But I nonetheless fear he, unfortunately, doesn't have the balls to do it, even though as you point out, it's clearly the best way for him to get a good deal. Unnecessary and foolish military spending has been an existential threat to us since the days of Dwight Eisenhower's administration. But I predict Obama is too gutless to to rough it out, go over the cliff, and do what needs to be done. The stupid SOB.

The stench will be on both parties, Washington as a whole, as the spending cuts the Dems don't want kick in...well at lot of them at least.

What do you want to bet that there's no stench at all?

Just a bunch of doom and gloom from the usual suspects.

How long do you think it would take for new legislation to be introduced to reverse most of the spending cuts? Except for the Defense cuts, of course.

6 months?
