And very inappropriate considering the subject matter.

nograss cattle co, just do a web search for an organization that works in the causes you want to support, and in the geographic area you want.
then use something like http://charityNavigator.org to see how well they do.

Duke of G, since i mentioned i was cutting back on hobbying to redirect my funds to various non-profits, does that count as hobby-related??

Great thought as we head in to the Season.
I find myself shopping online Thanksgiving and going out early Friday morning after to get toys for those in need. My Kids are older and the "Magic" is gone. I took my oldest to deliver some bikes and about 4 boxes of toys (bought on sale so double to triple the items). We drove off after delivering (and many Thanks) and I think he felt better than I did and we are looking forward to doing it again this year and every year after.
If you can even buy a small item for an Angel off an Angel Tree (Mall, Churches) you will feel what the the Season is about. I actually enjoy the shopping for others in need knowing that it will be appreciated more by them.
An early Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas and if you can not donate maybe take a few hours and give back by volunteering.
Best Wishes

When you do decide to donate, please insure that they are a reputable charity and that they file the appropriate annual documents with the govt that shows at least 75 cents of each dollar donated actually is used for their chosen charitable purpose
