I have not been able to get into my P411 account/Web page is not coming up, this been going on for maybe 12 hours. Anyone else? I did send them an EM. Like many I do go often from 411 to Eccie and back again several times daily!

Just got answer from Gina. they are aware and dealimg with a "Denial of Service attack out of Asia" and it will be fixed in due time!Update:

We are dealing with a Denial of Service attack out of Asia.

The short version (how I understood it) is that we are being hit over and over, by thousands of malware infected computers, which is overloading our servers and bringing the site down. We have people working to block the attacking ips, during which time the site needs to be completely offline. Once all of the ips have been blocked, we'll put the site back up.

10.16.12 11:00 am Update

The ddos attack we are experiencing is "massive", and the ISP has blocked all traffic to P411 until it is under control.

What is a ddos attack? It is when a site is targeted by a huge amount of computerized traffic, far more than a server can handle. The goal is to render a site useless.

I am working with numerous tech people to do resolve the problem, but it's looking like the site will be down at least until late this afternoon. All I can say is that we are working on it, and we're doing the best we can.

Actually, with the site down i don't have anything to do..... I feel pretty useless to be quite honest. I'm not the least bit technically inclined, my talents lay elsewhere.

Had this happen once to our system. Our folks decided to launch a counter attack. It was more or less returning fire. They ended their attack within minutes and it as never happened again. Just a thought.
