Hugo Chavez
Well, it looks like Hugo Chavez "won" the election in Venezuela.
Does anyone think it was a fair election?
. . . And how does someone so damn ugly win an election outside of a monkey cage?

I'm sure Obama is trying very hard to "win" using similar tactics. Romney will probably need a few extra points to cover Dimo fraud. That shouldn't surpise anyone; it's SOP for the Demonrats.

Better Friends
You need a better class of friends.
Maybe you could ask the old geezer to play golf with you.
. . . No wait, that would be a step down!

Faint Praise
Yeah, ummh, thanks for that faint praise.
Okay, so maybe Hugo said he did, but I've never trusted anything that old coot ever said.
. . . You know, sort of like with you, senor geezer!

It's about as fair as our elections, which isn't saying much.
What people don't understand about Venezuela is that because of geography we import more oil from them than anywhere in the middle east.
Most refineries on the Texas Gulf coast are specifically designed to handle the particular crude that comes from there, and cannot be re-configured for other crudes.
If you drive a car in Texas you have Chavez to thank, and his government actually OWNS CITGO.
Chavez is really no different from any of the new Presidents of Brazil, Equador, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uraguay or Peru.
It's just that because he's a major oil supplier the US likes to fuck with him.

Oil
If it's really only about oil, then why do we need Chavez?
He's really just an ingnorant thug and a petty dictator who clings to power like a barnacle.
. . . The oil comes from Venezeula, not from Chavez.

I think this article pretty well sums it up regarding Chavez.
http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/09/opinio...tml?hpt=hp_bn7
TAE, the last time I checked Saudi Arabia was considered part of the Middle East. About 8% of our imports come from Venezuela versus approx. 14% from Saudi. Also, considering the capacity of the refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast is roughly 3.5 million bbl/day, it's rather unlikely that most of them only process the Venezuela crude (about 1 million bbl/day).
