Default MASSAGE?

So we were drifting along in a thread that has probably served its purpose anyway when an interesting question was raised about massages and extras and LMT vs RMT and extras:

http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=41793&page5

The question is, why choose a mere relaxing or sensual massage with an RMT rather than a bona fide LMT if you genuinely need a good back rub or other PT?

In my opinion an unlicensed/untrained masseuse that simply registers with the state after she attended a backrub or Reiki clinic that doesn't give extras is ludicrous--like putting screen doors on a submarine.

What is your opinion?

RMT's are now known as LMT's The State of Texas has finally up'ed the hours from 300 to 500 and the RMT now gets the title LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist)

WOW!

Texas sees them as the same?

Up here in the Midwest several of the states have two levels. LMT is about the equivalent of of an RN. It requires three to four years of coursework at a major medical college and then clinical/internship.

An RMT is just purchasing a certificate and registering witht he state and "agreeing" via paperwork not to do sexual massages and to follow board of health protocols. Very few of them have done more than a Reikki or Reflexology workshop. Most have the type of training you get at one of those weekend community colleges. They tend to:

1) Set up a shack, hang a shingle and do hippie/dippie sessions.

2) Set up a shack, hang a shingle as a Relaxationologist.

3) Wear a bikkini or sports bra and offer "sensual massage."

4) Become a gal that provides various sexual services

Most spas, resorts, health centers, and medical organizations will only use LMT's.
