If it is your first time. Do the quarter for a few days. Everyone has to check that off their bucket list. If you find more time, go to the Marigny. You will find the best Jazz in the city there.

Food wise, too many to list. I would just stay away from tourist restaurants.

Did you realize you are going to be there during the biggest sausage fest of the year? While this might normally be good for business, not this time. Southern Decadence will be going on labor day weekend. I don't know how that affects business, but there are thousands of gay tourists that come in that weekend. Its wild, but I doubt they will be interest in your "Succulent T & A". Maybe some of the NOLA ladies can speak to that.

I forgot about Decadence. If you are down with the gay scene then you'll have a total and complete blast in the French Quarter. What part of the city will you be staying in and will you have a car to use?

If you have some time to kill, take a ride on the trolley. It goes from the Carrollton part of town, through Uptown & the Garden District, and ends Downtown/French Quarter. It makes a complete loop so if you have enough time you can take the whole loop. It's nice & relaxing and you can see some of the cool architecture on St. Charles Avenue. For a quick bite to eat and a small dose of New Orleans culture, hop off the trolley where St. Charles joins Carrollton Ave & visit Camelia Grill. The food isn't the best in the city but it's a neat old style grill. You can't go wrong with the chili & cheese omelet there.

Lmao.. Im very much aware of the big sausigé fest known as southern decadence ..lol im actually going to NOLA for that reason.. Im going with my hair dresser & a few friends ive known for 10yrs .. But I figured I would like to meet a few locals and maybe sneak away while they recover frm their night before.. Lol. Im staying on bourbon near canal but only going within that area &fq bc I dnt have a car to move around on. So im excited to go and i've been here once before but during mardi gras..but this time I have the time to play. Well if anyone wants to meet up for lunch or drinks let me know. .. Male or female.. But for my safety I will be making sure ur are reputable, n respectful.. If u wanna book an appt my ad is in the provider ads..

Well let me know if u guys/gal have any more suggestions

I may be biased, but the best sight to see in New Orleans is the ceiling of my bedroom, lol.
The best dance clubs for people of our age are Ampersand and the Republic.
Dominique's on Magazine is the best restaurant, plus it is not a tourist trap. Mathew McConaughey was there last week.

The bar with the best live music away from Bourbon Street and the crowds of tourists is Le Bon Temps on Magazine (Quentin Tarantino was there last week really drunk, really funny). The best blueberry Mojito is at St. Joes on Magazine. Best late night bar food is either Beach Corner Bar & Grill Midcity) or Cooter Browns River Bend)

If you are still here on 9/6 in the evening, Rebirth plays at Maple leaf bar every Tuesday night. Otherwise as far as music, pick up a "Where Y'at" as soon as you get in town, it publishes all of the music venues and who is playing on which days, pretty comprehensive.

Just some suggestions of places I have found. Have fun!

Saw them. The bar and the restaurant are basically next door. Not to give out too much personal info, but I hang out around there. Tarantino was pretty funny. Had the blonde bartender (big tittied one) that works the back bar drunk as shit and topless (well only wearing a bra).

I love Pat O's, Court of 2 sisters, the bar at the Monteleone and the Ritz(all downtown), Maple Leaf, Madigans, and Cannon's (Uptown). Not much of a club goer, but there are many wine and martini bars on Magazine and throughout uptown and Metairie. As far as food, Impastato's, Drago's, Commander's Palace, Court of 2 sisters, Jaquimo's, Dante's, Nola, Dominique's, etc.

You have to take the graveyard and vampire tour if you've never done it, and don't forget to get a portrait in Jackson Square. Recently had a date in which we went on the Natchez cruise. It's about 3 hours with dinner included, and a great band. Food could use some work, but if you like being on the water as much as I do, sipping on your favorite drink while listening to jazz, it's a great outing. I love the Riverwalk Mall and Saks of course. Even if you don't buy anything, there are always bands or something else going on that make it worth a stop. Park at the Wyndam.

No one has mentioned the Café Du Monde at 800 Decatur Street. It’s one of two touristy places I’d recommend. The other is Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo at 739 Bourbon Street: stop in, wander around and say you bought the t-shirt. If you have the time, ride the streetcar down St. Charles Avenue and get a look at some fine turn-of-the-century (19th-20th) homes. This will take you past some of New Orleans’ universities and the Audubon Zoo. The zoo is pretty nice; its tree shaded paths are nice, especially on a hot day. The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is another cool spot (AC) to retreat to on a hot day. But there will be plenty of party animals along Bourbon Street during the Decadence Festival for you to watch for free. In the evening, there is the Hookah Café at 309 Decatur where you might select and enjoy an elegant tobacco from a large menu of elegant tobaccos. I also like Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop at 941 Bourbon Street. It’s a laid back bar in one of the oldest buildings in the Quarter, and it often features a live band. A non-elegant place for good food with a local flavor is the Acme Oyster House at 724 Iberville Street. For more elegant dining, as London suggested, it’s hard to beat Emeril Lagasse’s NOLA at 534 Saint Louis Street. Not having a car is not a handicap. Parking costs are outrageous. Walking, taxis and the street cars are the best way to move around in New Orleans.Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!
