Do the research. first. Find a good Indy or two and treat them well in communication and in person. Don't dicker (ok there IS a pun there) or look for the bargain. Be prepared to come up with the expected donation or don't book with her.

The Hobby is a bit hit or miss with regards to reliability. Its part of the scene. Deal with it or go dry.

Totally agree with your assessment. We had amazing talent, wide open menu's, and many of them were single women from broken relationships who needed the extra cash to make ends meet.

Now there are 1.25 jobs for every person looking for a job and the ladies do not need to hustle to make ends meet.
