Corvette C8 introduction.....any car fans here?
Damn good looking car. Starts at $60,000, runs 0-60 in 3.0 seconds.
Great bang for the buck concerning it's a mid engine car with a 495 hp V8 engine.

It's pretty exciting.
I heard about it on the radio this morning. When they said mid engine I couldn't believe it. Hadn't seen the price tag. A Ford GT is in the mid 6 figure range.
That Chevy could completely redesign the car and keep it in the Corvette price range is unbelievable.
I would imagine HP could be bumped significantly with some mods and tuning. There's no shortage of mods for Corvettes and I'm sure the people who produce them are already putting ideas together to upgrade suspension, braking, aerodynamics, HP, etc.
It's not the "vette" we're used to but it could change things. Does this now put the Corvette in the supercar conversation? It will be interesting to read the reviews.
Does it turn off the hard core Corvette crowd or will the orders start pouring it driving the price up? I think it will be the latter. Bidding could drive it well above $100k.

I didn't think the C7 would do as well as it did. I didn't like them at first but they grew on me.
Looking at the pic of the C8.....it won't have to grow on me. I LIKE IT

I MAY be saying goodbye to my Hellcat, but not for sure.
The Dodges are hell to mod., for one you have to get another PCM in order to tune the car, where with the Chevy, all it takes is a Diablo tuner for a quick 20-30 hp, same for Ford (last I heard).
Isn't 700 plus horsepower enough? Hell no!
Dodge Hellcat (Demon and Red Eye), Ford Mustang and Shelby, Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro............here's to American horsepower.

Pretty, but being mid engine, it's a poor man's Ferrari 488.

Keep that Hellcat!
By far, the most comfortable ride of any muscle car.
I would kill myself by mistake if I owned one.
Love that Hellcat!

I’m still not convinced. I had an old reconditioned ‘72 Stingray convertible.
This one looks too far off from Stingray DNA. More like an attempt to emulate a Ferrari. Just call me a purist.

Its going to.be a great debate. Purists like you have a legitimate argument but car enthusiasts in general have to be excited by the dramatic change to a mid engine design. It really does bring the Corvette into the supercar conversation even if its pre mature in 2020. The 6.2 has a lot more potential hp than 495. I suspect, as long as the conceptual change catches on, that Chevy will, at least, get the performance up to GT standards.
