Ask for another reference. See him without further screening. Refuse to see him if he is unwilling to give up more information. The ball is in your court. Good you're getting traction without advertising. I like that.

Ask for a different reference. Or have him call her with you on 3 way if he doesn't have anyone else to give you.

I have no real good suggestion on how to get the client verified but as for the provider, start a list of those who's references carry no weight with you and ad her to it. Providers who are not reference friendly help gum up the works for everyone and should be "blacklisted" in their own right.

I am always skeptical as to their motivation for being this way and I believe it's because they hope to limit the options for the client. So that they'll have to return to them as other providers are less likely to see the client due to not being able to provide adequate references, especially with RL info being so closely guarded.

If the answer is no, move on. You do not have a confirmation, or a rejection.

Some layouts know they don't want to see someone--or, you in particular. When you get the idea your time is being wasted, just move on. There are enough quality providers out here theses days that, usually, it isn't worth it to get fixated on one which doesn't respect your time.

I've had the same problem while touring. Just need to move on. Or have him verify himself in another fashion, most of the time the guy doesn't like to give personal info either but at that point I won't feel safe if he gives me a hassle.
