Default Happy (Belated) National Coming Out Day!

Sure, many of the boys here are very straight and several of you come off as completely homophobic, but to everyone else, HAPPY COMING OUT DAY! I'm a (mostly) straight female who has slept with more women than most of my lesbian friends (and hell, probably some of my straight male friends!), so I felt like posting. And to you boys who want "enthusiastic doubles," y'all should be happy, too.

To lovin' on people! Yourself, sexy people of the other gender, and sexy people of the same gender. Woohoo!

Live and let live, what you do BCD is your business. But for God's sake, don't ask don't tell, because no one gives a shit! What would you think if I ran around saying I'm a hetero? You wouldn't care would you?

People come out and say it so it becomes inundated into modern society which makes it seem more familiar and more of a norm. This creates more of an acceptance.

There was an experiment which in a newspaper they posted gibberish meaning words with varying frequency and later had a poll about those words in which ones they "liked" the most.
The ones with the highest frequency always won and there was almost perfect correlation with the like of the word and the frequency.
So therefore doing this(announcing their preference) is just a way of injecting themselves naturally into society.

But I understand your opinion, it seems rather accepted now and at times can feel like an in your face look at me type of thing. Namely I am special and different wee look at me. Coming out nowadays isn't nearly as "brave" of a thing as it was 15-20 years ago.
(dependent on familial circumstances of course)

But sexual preference is genetic so it is akin to saying "Hey I have brown hair!"
Oh well to each their own!
Okay I'm done

It's completely amazing what has happened in the last twenty years. My 16 sixteen year old nephew came out and has his own clique in highschool. I grew up in a small town in Mississippi, you might have been the victim of a hate crime for that doing that 20 years ago. He's not, for exactly the reasons you stated. Other people came before him and created that dialogue, and sometimes, strident monologue. But, they were heard. And my nephew, thanks to them, didn't have to do any of that. I'm so glad. I love him. He's charming and wonderful and deserves everything good in life. "We're out, we're proud, get used to it!" probably needs to be yelled every few years from the streets, for whatever cause your espousing. It's a generally brilliant marketing slogan. Hard to get out of your head.
