Default remembering Austin food places

With Dot's closing, I was remembering back to some of Austins favorite food places. Notice I am not saying restaurants, because some of these places barely passed the health inspections each week but we loved to hang out there. Anyone remember The Stallion on North Lamar, and of course Airport Haven on Airport Blvd. What do you remember of past haunts?

G&M Steakhouse on the drag was great years ago!

And that place on Riverside was also a Landry's before it was a Joe's Crab Shack.

no place could heckle the customers quite like g&m. and you are right about landry's---i forgot about that.

a couple of other places...sid's on n. lamar---they had the best sourdough bread. and jorge's---the one on 6th st and their uptown enchilada bar on lavaca.

I believe you're thinking about the old MAGIC TIME MACHINE. A bizarre place, mediocre food but loads of fun. We used to get in food fights with the waiters. Not too messy, grapes and such. That was owned by the same guy that owned all the "Jims" eateries, and he had the food concession for the place at the top of the Tower of America in San Antonio. But not now.
