Here we go again; sex, racism, and plagarism
All three have found a home in the democratic party but they are the three legged stool of democratic attacks. I watched the process started today for Senator Sessions. Those democrats. They praise faintly with one side of their mouths (after all as a fellow senator they've all said nice things about him) and then imply (they never come out and say it) that he is a Bull Connors (a democrat) racist.
At the same time they are launching attacks on a woman who will be an advisor and not a cabinet member. Monica Crowley, a Phd from Columbia on International Relations, is being attacked for plagarism. This comes from something that she wrote about what people said and wrote so of course she quoted people (in a book full of quotes) but did not always attribute where the quote came from. Quite unlike Joe Biden who commandeered someone else's life to get reelected.
Now they are attacking Bill O'Reilly (stop me if you've heard this before) for sexual harassment. Same ole story. Some woman from long ago says that Bill did this or Bill said that. No witnesses, no proof.
The democratic play book. The only thing missing is grandma being thrown off a cliff.

Business decision. There is a frequent misconception that when a party settles a case it means the party was guilty of the behavior charged in the allegations. Often people are paying close to what the litigation would cost them to defend it and they are getting a sure-thing result when trying the case could risk a judgment against them....then the cost of an appeal.

probably nothing more than bad office language and some off color remarks about her ass.
to O'Reilly < 1 m is pocket change and tends to fit the "make it go away" type money because it would cost more to prove your case.
now if it had been 7 figures or more .. that's a different scale. Remember Micheal Jackson's settlement for the pedo case of his? Mark Geragos had been set to defend but later dropped out in part due to that prior settlement in a civil claim where Jackson reportedly paid out millions to kill the prior case.
Geragos said later than no good attorney would ever recommend an 8 figure settlement for a nuisance suit.

How much do they pay O'Reilly? Megyn Kelly was reportedly offered $25 million. O'Reilly makes more. A million here or a million there makes sense.

why are you mean to these victims?
the dimocrats single playbook in congressional confirmation hearings of any sort of a conservative is to attempt to tar the nominee as a victimizer of blacks, mexicans, women, the earth, and gays, all supposedly in order to maintain male white supremacy (even if the nominee is black, hispanic or a woman) and in pursuit of profit at the expense fairness and the common good

Bill O'fuckingreally is a worthless piece of shit.
He is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination but is most definitely a closet liberal asshole.

Too bad all Bills don't get the same benefit of the doubt

Do you really want to discuss playbooks?
Why would you try to deny Ms. Crowley's time in the sun or downplay her actions? She included thousands of unaccredited words with no footnotes or bibliography to indicate where they came from. Can't you discuss her without bringing up another plagiarist? Joe Biden's plagiarism has been discussed, chewed, swallowed, regurgitated, repeat as needed. If it has any relevance at all it is only as an example of how the current plagiarist should be discussed, chewed, swallowed, regurgitated, repeat as needed.
And I for one would like to hear her excuses for her actions, not yours.
In the spirit of the New Year and a new incoming President, I will restrain from personal attacks as best I can. But I'm not to good at turning the other cheek. Let's all make sure we know the difference between opinion and fact.
And let's make sure we give our new president the same scrutiny, benefit of the doubt, and cooperation we gave our last president when he came into office. While many believe he will turn things around in no time it's only fair to give him the same amount of time as Obama got, right?
