Disable my account

I know it has probably been said here in the past, but if a person chooses not to play In this hobby, why do they open a thread and request to disable their account?

Why not just walk away and never look back??

I know the account can be linked to an email or a smart phone, but you still have knowledge if this site, it's not like you forget about it entirely overnight, most players have hobby phones and hobby emails, would it be easier to throw away the pre-paid phone and never enter eccie into a browser??

My only guess is that something went sour here on eccie? Maybe people don't want to be reminded of it or have it follow them? I'm not sure myself.

Great question Quick Draw. One I was about to ask as well. For the ladies, I understand the request. Since so many of their posts contain photos of themselves and phone numbers (even if they are burn phones).

The request from hobbyists is a head scratcher for me. Like you said, why not simply walk away. Maybe they didn't do their due diligence in advance.

My eccie account is linked to a generic email account. An account I have not checked in years. I have used nothing but burner phones and text apps in contacting providers. I have never scheduled an appointment by PM. There is nothing that connects my real life to my eccie account.

I do believe in covering all your bases so a request to disable an account is not unreasonable. I don't think it actually protects you or helps. Not if you were proactive from the beginning.

Something seems rather odd this time of year. Normally there is a summer drought, but all of a sudden an influx of traveling providers. I had five on my radar, contacted five, and five went dark with no warning. Now people are disabling their accounts left & right, there's talk about a sting. Perhaps I'm being paranoid or perhaps my four-year residency was all just a dream and for entertainment purposes only.
