Default Ad: the car that saved Tiger Woods

Scenario:

You are the marketing manager for the Genesis GV80 suv. The ad agency presents to you a new ad campaign. The theme will be: "the car that saved Tiger Woods"

You must decide:

it is brilliant, and will lead you to the CEO chair
it is a disaster that will ruin car sales

Buick still making cars? Didn't they call it quits same time as Oldsmobile?

Someone life altering event used as a marketing ploy... smells like a lawsuit.

They still make a couple sedans. The rest are crossovers.

Recycling this joke from Tiger's earlier misadventure in another car when his Swedish bikini-model wife chased him out of the house but he crashed just outside the front gate:

Q. What's the difference between a Cadillac Escalade and a golf ball?
A. Tiger Woods can drive a golf ball 300 yards.

Plymouth ended in 2001;
Oldsmobile ended in 2004;
Pontiac and Saturn ended in 2010, in the recession;
the last Mercury rolled out in 2011, just after the recession, but interestingly, Ford has kept the trademark alive.

Last time I drove a Buick was a rental in early 2000's. Piece of shit. Noisy. Cranky. Lousy acceleration. Engine sounded like it was metal rubbing together. Very uncomfortable driver's seat. Instrument panel was a hot mess.

In past times, the Buick was an aspiration car. You would start with a Chevrolet.

In the hierarchy of GM, it was slotted below Cadillac but above the rest of their brands.

People craved Buicks. If you could just be seen driving around in a Buick, it was a statement that you have made it. What is the car today that represents the same thing ?

Stepping down from the ultra-luxury lines like Bentley, there's a changing of the order with no clear winner IMO. Maybe Lexus, maybe a 3XX Mercedes, or the 3XX BMW lineup. Tesla isn't yet a marque of aspiration, but it'll get there.

In the city I live BMW and Lexus are absolutely everywhere, so there is no status gained. Toyota tried something like this with the Avalon, but that never got much attention either. These days maybe it takes an older classic car to stand out.

That tiger is always in some strange pussy, reports from the black box in the car show that he was accelerating instead of trying to slow down

I don't know about any of you but whenever I wanted to stop pretty quickly, I know where the brake pedal is.
