There have been times in the past where I have needed to rent a room without my wife's knowledge.
Everyone wants a credit card/ID even if you pay cash. The clerks all look at you as if you have "Adulterer"written on your forehead in red. I'm sure some of you have been there.
In this digital age, I'm scared to death someone is going to send something to the house that everyone shouldn't see.
Does anyone have any opinions (pro or con) about any fairly decent hotels and hobbying?

Also, you might want to hobby miles away in another city just in case you or your wife's coworkers/friends notice your car in the parking lot.

This is a solid option. Though prepaid debit cards still require that you use your RW information to sign up. You get a temporary one at a pharmacy, and then they need your contact information, SSN, and address to mail the permanent one to. So if you go this route, you'd need to vigilantly watch your mail if you want to get a prepaid debit card on the low.
